Dec 27. 2009

We are offically snowed in. There is a man in town who kinda looks out for B. He's friends with her landlord. B got her van stuck about halfway up the driveway. While we were working on that, B walked up the rest of the driveway and saw that someone had tried to come in. C had gotten stuck and almost tore up his truck, trying to plow us out. WE have both vans stuck. Ours near the house and her's about half-way up the driveway. J is coming by, to take B to Walmart for a few things. Eggs, bread, and cat food. We are also out of cat litter, used it all trying to get her unstuck. She may look for sand instead. I walked up, after they got the van stuck halfway up the driveway, and gee is it deep up there.. There is one snow drift that is hip high on me. C left behind a broken snow shovel handle and I was using it to prod the ground in front of me, and check snow depth, and at a few places it was up to the handle of the thing. I'm guessing it's at least 2 foot tall I fell into the ditch and it was hip high on me. One of the drifts is up to my waist. I wanted J or B to take a picture of me near one of the drifts. We are not going to be out of the 20's until Wed. and then it's only going to be 35 and another chance of snow...

Add to that. MaCoy called J last night with a really good chance at a job in Lower Georgia. We would love to go to any job, right now. but this one would be warm. It's just above where Georgia and Flordia meet at the ocean.

We need to find a local fax machine. that doesn't cost a whole lot to send from, because they have a 15 page application.

Merry Christmas

We had a white Christmas. With blowing and drifting snow. I don't recomend trying to drive in it unless your young, healthy and able to walk any great distance in it. Josh and Makeya were over for most of the day. They are young and healthy. Josh, Beth and Jerry went to town for a bit, then back while MaKeya and I kept each other company. Dinner was not a large as Thanksgiving but we each ate our fill and had plenty of left-overs as well. I recieved enough fleece to make my own fleece tye blanket. Jerry gave Beth a set of bookmarks and I gave her a bracelet. All in all it was a good day. No fighting and only a little fussing early in the day. After dinner, and finishing up watching the second night in the museum movie, the "Kids" went to the city to find an arcade and watch Avatar. Beth says it's Awsome.

White Christmas

If the forcast is to be believed, We are going to get socked with snow, starting Thursday afternoon and going through to Friday evening. According to what I've found. we could get as little as 3 inches of snow and as much as 10 inches. If only this had happened when our kids were younger, much younger. All the pets have been brought in, tonight. The garage door closed. I didn't realize that we only have a couple of jugs of water left. The house has running water, but the landlord doesn't recomend that we drink it. It's ok for cooking (boiling) and cleaning and bathing though. I asked Hubby to take the empty jugs to the van. don't know if we will refill them in the morning, wait until afternoon. or wait until the day after Christmas. We don't have much left in the account, and need to watch carefully every penny. Luckly, A box I was expecting came in from my daughter in Tennessee. In it was a few things I had ordered and paid for, back in September. Hubby already knows what his gift is. A Harly Davidson Calendar. Darling Daughter hasn't a clue that she's even getting something under her tree. I hope to surprise her with a couple of items. One from her Dad and one from me.

We are expecting company for dinner. First we were, then we were not. then we are again. yikes, how is a woman to keep up with it all? DD said that the Ham is on the dock at work, will bring it home tonight. I picked up enough other goodies (she paid for them) to cover the rest of the meal. I did do a bit of baking and candy making this evening. I made a banana nut bread and some mashed potatoe candy. I should make up some vanilla pudding as well. I keep saying I'm going to, then forget that I wanted to.

I "hear" my brother is expecting some snow and will having some fun with his dogs. I wish him the best of it, for sure, because I really don't like the cold any more. I don't know why we can't have snow and 75F degrees .. would be so nice if we could. I do hope that, sometime in the future, Hubby and I could go visit him in Alaska. It would be fun to see where he lives and meet the people he hangs with.

I don't do much "Hanging" myself. We are never in a place long enough to really get to know any one well. That is one of the draw backs of working construction. Sometimes we get lucky and can be in a place for a couple of years, other times, we are only in a place a few weeks. Just when I get to where I know my way around well, we up and move, again.

Hubby is still job hunting. Construction jobs are hard to find at this time of the year. I know that it may be spring before he is working again. A lot will depend on the Money and who gets the contracts. We keep jumping when his phone rings, but it's not about a job.

Here lately it's been ringing with someone asking if he would like to go back to college. Um. NO. would help if we had a way to pay for college. He tells them to remove his name and number and hangs up on them. But I keep wondering why he gets those calls and I don't. He got scam calls about a "Bank of Kansas City" having trouble with the card.. There is no "Bank of Kansas City". Every time we do get a call that even remotely says the cards have been comprmises (sp) We call our bank and talk to one of the tellers. They apprecate that we call first. We will give them all the infor we can, and they then contact the Banking commision or who ever and let them know what new scams are going on. it's truly a sad time when even your bank account can be ripped off.

here is the banana bread recipe I made this evening

Banana Bread

½ cup softened butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 cup mashed bananas (about 2 very ripe bananas)

2 cups flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tesp nutmeg

1 tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

1 cup chopped walnuts , reserve a few for the top of the bread

Preheat oven to 350.

Cream butter and sugar together. Add one egg at a time and beat until smooth. Blend in the mashed bananas.

In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nuts.

Add the flour mixture to the banana mixture until well blended.

Grease (or use baking spray) one regular size loaf pan or 4 mini loaf pans. Add batter and bake for 1 hour for the larger loaf or 35 minutes for the smaller loaves. Do not overbake. Remove from oven and let stand for 10 minutes then remove from pans and let cool on wire rack.

And here is the Mashed Potato Candy recipe as well

Mashed Potato Candy

1/4 C Hot Mashed Potatoes

1 3/4 C Powder Sugar

1 1/2 c Flake Coconut

1/4 tsp Orange Zest (any Citris Zest will work)

3/4 C Chopped Nuts

1 tsp melted Butter

1/2 tsp Vanilla

Combine potatoes and butter. Add sugar and beat well. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Drop by spoon onto wax paper covered cookie sheet, or form into a roll, chill and slice. Keep in closed container.

These are a family favorite every year, And any kid can make them...

What's wrong with hand made ???

Beth is meeting up with the friend of a friend this weekend, (tomorrow) She's not sure what she wants to wear. Wants to drop by Walmart and pick up some ear-rings. When I suggested that I could make a set of ear-rings to go with what ever she wanted to wear, you would have thought I had suggested she go naked or something like that.

What is wrong with wearing something your Mom has made, just for you?

I wasn't going to make "OLD" woman ear-rings. I have some great patterns for Modern, hip (Is hip still the kewl word?) that I thought would be welcomed as I could really match the color to the outfit... NOOooo.

Guess I'll just have to make and wear them, myself.

catching up, Jerry is now 55

Jerry is now up to speed. Yep, he turned the double nickel today. He's 55. Hard to believe that when we first met that we would still be going strong this many years later as well. I don't have any gifts for him this year. I will be making him a cake here in a bit. Chocolate Cake. Don't know what will be for dinner, yet. Chicken most likely. What else, I don't know. Maybe some mashed potatoes since he likes them, a lot.

It's been a hazy day here, Hard to think of a cold day as being hazy but it has been. I had to ask Jerry if it was me or was it hazy.. he said it wasn't me.

We "May" have a white Christmas this year. According to the long range forecast, there is a good chance of snow Christmas Eve and Christmas day.. First time in a long time what I've seen snow at Christmas.

We took Beth's overall's to the laundry matt to dry them. Took 7 quarters to do it. They were noisy and I think that's one reason she asked me to do it this way. I washed them here at her home. it got us out of the house for a bit, as well. Directv has turned us off. IF RAC Had done what we paid for (Insurance for in case or lay off) we would have been able to pay for the service and not be without tv right now. I feel bad for Jerry though. I can catch up on my one soap via the internet, but it's not as easy to catch up on Survivor. He was so looking forward to watching the final this Sunday.. We wanted to know how they were going to go from 5 to 2 and then the reading of the votes in an hour. The reunion show we usually skip. I know we can find out Monday, via the net, who won, but it's more fun to watch the show.

The house is too quiet without tv. driving me up a wall. I don't often turn on a radio, but I may have to at this rate.

Beth's tree is up.

Tonight, I walked Rocky, and one of the outside dogs, (Sam from the farm) wanted in, badly. It's very cold out. He came in before I could get Rocky to come into the house and I tripped as I came in through the door, Which caused me to stumble and fall into some plastic shelfing Beth has by her television. She has been asking me to empty those shelfs and move them so she could put up her Christmas Tree. The shelves got moved and the tree is up and the lights are on it. Not by my design, but because of my tripping. At least nothing was broken on the shelfs and I only have a couple of bruses, not counting my ego, of course.
This is the third fall I've taken this month. First was my fault. I was trying to put on my shoe on my right foot and fell backward off the arm of the couch onto the couch but that contiuned to a roll onto the floor before I finally stopped. The second was, I was taking out the cat box to empty it when I slipped on some ice and fell right as I was tossing the contents of the box out toward the fence. I landed on my knees that time. No hurts, just mad because me feet went out from under me and I ended up landing in icy mud. This time, My shoes caught in the carpet as I came throught the door while I was trying to pull Rocky away from Sam, who had run to Jerry, which brought Macon from the other room to see who was in and Macon wanted to start a fight with Sam. Sam had to go back outside while I caught my breath. Once we got the mess of all the cd's and dvd's off the floor, I put the large dog crate (kennel) together in the bathroom and brought Sam back in, out of the cold. That is what he wanted any way in the first place, in out of the cold. He's very content to be in the bathroom on an old blanket in there.

I said I wasn't going to empty those shelfs for Beth while she wasn't here.. I was right. I sure didn't mean to fall into them, but it did get her to clean them herself.

For Today... Dec 9, 2009

For Today... Dec 9, 2009

8 pm

Outside my window... Right now it's dark, but earlier today we had some sunshine and high clouds after yesterday and last nights snow. We got about 4 inches of snow overnight. The wind was up and cold though.

I am thinking... It's cold outside. About 10 am, I let Same loose to run and warm up. He doesn't like our dogs much, but needed to be able to run and warm up. Since our dogs are inside most of the time and we don't just open the door for them to go out, it wasn't fair to Sam at all. Jerry wasn't happy, but lives with it. I put a bucket of water out for the dogs, in the garage and it was frozen a couple of hours later.

I am thankful for... Beth letting us stay at her home, while her father is between jobs, again. He's looking but not having any luck in finding any thing, right now. She spent the day (her night) with a friend who lives only a couple of blocks from her job. That was she could get in to work in this nasty weather. We are able to take care of her animals and run her van to keep it working while she's there.

From the kitchen... Jerry sliced off a few pieces from a turkey ham and fried them. We also had friend potatoes and french cut green beans. I had a salad.

I am wearing...Maroon sweat pants. a flowered top that goes well with the pants and a purple sweatshirt.

I am reading...emails

I am hoping... That the weather warms up soon, We need to take a few tubs back to storage. Also hoping that Jerry gets a job call, soon.

I am creating...nothing today

I am hearing... Ghost Hunters on the tv in the other room.

Around the house... doing dishes and laundry.

A few plans for the rest of the week.. wait out the cold and snow, take a few things to storage. stay packed and ready to go.

For Today... Dec 07 09

For Today... Dec 07 09

Outside my window... Light Gray,, the sky is full of clouds ready to dump some snow on us, again. We got snow over-night and we are going to get more according to the forecast. much more. 5 inches more. Not what I wanted to hear.

I am thinking... Not much is going on around here. Not much is going to be goind on, either.

I am thankful for... A van that stays warm when we drive. We went to town for a few things. I finally got some shoes. Not what I was looking for, but they will do if (when) the deep stuff gets here.

From the kitchen... Jerry picked out ham slices and beef rice for dinner. I found some salad on sale.

I am wearing... brown sweatpants and a printed dark purple top. I have my purple sweat shirt on over that. I'm cold.

I am hoping... That we get a phone call soon. Jerry got a call, from a friend, today who is also looking for work as well. It is good to know we are not the only ones going through this, but dis-heartening as well, knowing so many others are. I know of about 8 who have called him over the last three to four weeks, asking if he's working or if he's heard of a job any where that might be hiring. Not good at all to hear of so many good people trying to find a job, withing our own small circle.

I am creating... Nothing at this time

I am hearing... tv in the background. some Christmas music on my computer

Around the house... Not much, dishes, laundry and floor sweeping.

A few plans for the rest of the week... I still plan on grilling steaks tomorrow evening and having s'more for dessert, outside over the grill. That is, if we get snow. If not then the plan will be for Wed night.

been one of "those" days

It's been "one of those" days. Nothing I say seems "right". nothing I do, is enough, and I'm to the point of, just saying "Screw It."

Oh, it's ok for me to do the cleaning, but don't speak when people are over. Even if "people" happens to be our nephew and his wife..

I'm getting plenty fed up with my daughter dismissing any thing I saw as useless.

I've not been around the last 52 years in a bubble. And I sure as Hell don't accept this sort of treatment from my own kids. IF we were not over a barrel right now, I'd be giving her the ear-full instead of writing about it in a blog.

I am really to the point that, once we leave here, taking every thing that is our and either shoving it into storage, or breaking it so she can't use it. and never come back here again excpet to pick up the stuff in storage. No stopping at her home, even.

I so want to just say Screw it, to her, and take the tv, phone service, the van she drives and the insurance we pay for it away from her.

~ A Christmas Blessing ~

~ A Christmas Blessing ~

May your Christmas be filled with beautiful hours
And memories lovely to hold,
To enhance and embellish the days of your years,
Like angel wings sprinkled with gold.
May Christmas spirit, in all of its joy,
Touch the depths of your soul with delight,
And may blessings in bushels, abundant and rich,
Light every path of your life.

a family update

Hello, Beth is back at work. Hurray. All I heard for 2 weeks was how she wanted to go back to work.. now I can hear "why did I want to go back". Love it. She was a bit stressed about what all the fellows would tease her about, being out for almost 3 weeks. But it turned out to be almost all good. She's on a weight lifting limit of 25 pounds. So, even the couple of men who don't think a "woman" should be doing that sort of work, are willing to pitch in and do the heavy lifting for her. I think that, by now, she's proved her ability to do that job, and then some. Wouldn't you know. Just a few days before she had the emergancy surgery, she had just gotten her first Perfect Attendance award. Did I mention, she's the only female on that shift? Believe me, she can give as good as she gets.. sometimes to the discomfort of the males she's working with. what they don't realize, most of the time, is she has an older brother and sister. Add to that, her father has worked construction for more than all of her life, and can tell the tales of the shinagians that go on. She does try to remind the fellows, often, she's a Christian, and they respect that. The stories will still be told, but they do get cleaned up a bit, I'm sure. All in all, it's great that she's back at work.

Jerry is still job hunting. Late Fall, early Winter is a tough time to be job hunting when you work construction in any ecomony. This is just harder right now. He has been told by a few larger companies that they plan on adding to the work force, after the first of the year. That's a long time off, when all you have is every other week, un-employment coming in and bills to pay, and try to keep back enough to be able to drive to the job, and rent a motel room for 2 weeks (before the first pay check can come in) We are holding our own, for now. The man we are buying the van and car from, is understanding, but he has to have money comeing is. We have to finish payong off the camper, before we can move it. Which I would love to do, since renting a campground spot is much cheaper than a motel. We are still holding out hope on some money coming in to cover that and putting a hitch on the van as well.

I have the house cleaned up, beans in a pot, It's a cold day here so a pot of beans and some corn bread sound good. I'll be browning up some hamburger with some taco seasonings to put in, soon. Add a can of tomato paste and some finely chopped onion (shh,, don't tell Jerry or Beth) and we have a pot of "Almost chili".

I'm going through our stuff, repacking what I can, and making a list of things I need to replace while I'm at it. Since I have to carry all my clothes with us, with no storage, I have to figure out how many of my sweat pants I want to turn into shorts next late spring and get rid of the shorts that I no longer want to wear. I have two dresses, to keep. I want/need to make a dress to see if I really like the pattern. As much as I like how it looks on the enevelope, I never know for sure until after it gets made and I wear it a bit.

I have no gifts for my family, right now. They all understand that. They do know that I give to them throughout the year so not having a Christma Gift isn't a big deal, except to me. I also know that they are each having to deal with hard times as well. Our oldest daughter hasn't worked in over a year now. She's planing on going back to Colleg early in 2010. I hope she can find a way to do it. There are no factory jobs left near enough to her home to get to and still pay all the bills. The whole town is really feeling the bite of the one major indrustry closing it's doors last year.Still, She's doing well. She still has plenty of hope. that once she finishes school she can find a different job to do that will do more than just make the ends meet.

For Today... Dec 1, 2009

For Today... Dec 1, 2009

Outside my window...(noon) The Sun is shining but we are in for a weather change according to the forecast. I notice that more and more of the grass is turning yellow and losing it's green quickly now. Even some of the brush that is on the edge of this property is more yellow than the green it was just last week. ( 5pm ) the window I sit at, on my computer faces East, The sun is setting and I can see the moon just at the top of the trees now. Laege and bright. It was a pleasent day and I spent about an hour outside with the dogs. We walked around the edge of this place and they got to explor the weeds and the trails where the deer jump the fences.

I am thinking...(noon) I better spend some time outside today, because it will soon be too cold for me to want to stay out.( 5pm ) I'm glade I got out for a bit, this afternoon with the dogs.

From the kitchen... Jerry said he may make spegettie. I pulled hamburger and some chicken out of the freezer so both could thaw. I'm hoping more for the chicken than the burger. If he saves the burger, I'll put it in a pot of beans I plan to make tomorrow. (7pm) I made the Chicken. A little hot oil in the skillet, some seasoning and a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash then covered with a lid after 20 minutes turned over, seasoned the other side and put the lid back on. Heated up a can of Corn (starch) and a can of french cut Green Beans. Warmed up two dinner rolls each. I only ate 1/2 of my chicken and cut the other half in to bite sized pieces to use tomorrow.

I am wearing...(noon) Brown Sweatpants and a light blue tshirt

I am hoping...(noon) That the phone rings with a job for Jerry very soon. He expressed his frustration in it not ringing last night. He is as ready as I am, to get out of here and back on our own. Living with Beth is a blessing but not our desire ( 5pm ) Still waiting for that phone call. As bad as things seem, we know we are at least in a good place. It could be much worse, we could be homeless with no place to go.

I am creating...(noon) I just finished the unicorn block for a quilt I want to make. I have to go back on line and find the other stencils that I wanted for the other blocks. They are lost on my laptop.

I am hearing... the Tv in the background, as well as the drying running and the washer as well. ( 5pm ) I've got my mp3 player going. right now it's "I don't want to miss a thing". I don't know who sings it.

Around the house... (noon)I just swept the bathroom floor. I made the breakfast this morning, Buttermilk pancakes. Not one was left over.

( 5pm ) I did work on our stuff a bit. I got my suitcase unburied, and straighted out. Sorted if you will. I have put some of Jerry's clothes on a broken chair in the room to get them out of my way. This is not going to go quickly.

(7pm) Jerry got a little miffed when I told him to wash his dishes after dinner. the water was in the sink. only takes a minute and I didn't ask him to wash any thing else but his plate and fork. You would think I was asking him to go milk a cow or some other chore like that. When he cooks, I do the dishes, when I cook, I still end up doing the dishes, I think I'm going to try to get him into the habit of washing up his own plate, after meals by having the water already in the sink, waiting for him.

One of my favorite things...(noon) Haveing control of the tv for a couple of hours. I miss that, during the day, when Jerry is home.

A few plans for the rest of the week... (noon)I have got to straighten up the middle bedroom and repack our things. I can't find any thing I want or need quickly, right now.

For Today... Nov 30, 2009

For Today... Nov 30, 2009

Outside my window... The sun is setting, now with lots of dark pink where the sky touches the earth. Today was pleasent outside, considering it's the last day of November. I was outside in a heavy jacket and was warm enough, while walking the dogs.

I am thinking... Beth came home from her friends' house after spending three nights away. Jerry got a text from her yesterday late afternoon. She should have called or texted us at least once each day so we would have known if she was going to come home or not. 21 or not, she should have checked in with us, since we are in her home, right now. I can understand if we were not here, her not checking in, but we are here.

I am thankful for... Warmer than normal weather. I don't like being cold.

From the kitchen... Don't know, yet, what to fix. Food is about all I can say, for now.

I am wearing...Brown Sweatpants and a blue sweat shirt, Now that the sun has gone down, I'm feel a bit chilled

I am reading... web sites on different crafts and lots of blog spots

I am hoping... That Jerry gets a job soon. We really do need out of here.

I am creating... nothing

I am hearing... The washer filling up and the noise of the tv in the other room

Around the house... I've done the dishes and need to do a bit of picking up. I'm thinking, if Beth wants her Christmas tree up, she should be home for it. Not going to put it up for her. I did work a little in the room our stuff is in. I need to do more in there.

A few plans for the rest of the week... I need to finish up straightening up our stuff in the other room. Would like to clean out the back of our van next warm spell and get it ready to go.

Slow Cooker Meatloaf

Here is another crockpot recipe I thouught looked intresting. I really miss my Mom's meatloaf and have never been able to come close to how she fixed hers.

Slow Cooker Meatloaf
2 lbs Ground Beef
2 eggs
2/3 cup quick oats
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
1/2-1 tsp liquid smoke
1 tsp ground mustard
1/2 cup ketchup, divided

1.Combine ground beef, eggs, dry oats, onion soup mix, liquid smoke, ground mustard and all but 2 Tbsp of ketchup. Shape into loaf andplace in slow cooker.

2. Top with remaining ketchup.3. Cover. Cook on low 8-10 hours or on high 4-6 hours.

Crock-pot Salsa Chicken

My brother mentioned that he loves using his crock-pot for cooking for it's convience. When I saw this recipe I thought I would try it soon, but also wanted to share it as well. Last night, Jerry and I watched Alaska State Troopers.. I just can't imangine paying $13+ for one gallon of milk. It makes me wonder how much the Sour Cream in this recipe would cost "Up there" as well. I don't want to even think what a dozen of egg may be, since they are around $1.18 here in Missouri.

Crock-pot Salsa Chicken
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 envelope taco seasoning mix
1 cup salsa
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup light sour cream

Spray crock-pot with cooking spray. Add the chicken breasts. Sprinkle with taco seasoning. Top with salsa. Cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
When ready to serve, remove the chicken from the pot. Place cornstarch in a small amount of water and stir well. Stir the cornstarch mixture into salsa sauce. Stir in sour cream.
Serve with hot, cooked rice.

For Today... Nov 27, 2009

For Today... Nov 27, 2009

Outside my window... it's dark, now, but the day was full of sunshine and a bit of wind. The tempature was nice enough.

I am thinking... I want to do more than just sit at this computer and read emails and save caft and recipe ideas. I just don't know what.

I am thankful for... Jerry, trying to keep me happy. He's been trying to get my laptop to work again but no such luck. He did get an old tower to reserect and work with the sprint wireless service so I can get on line. I've lost all my files and have to start from scratch, again.

From the kitchen... Jerry made dinner, tonight. Box of hamburger helper, peas and whole wheat buns.

I am wearing... Brown sweats and a purple and pink printed top

I am reading... emails and trying to catch up with them, after fighting my computer for 3 days I'm way behind.

I am hoping... That Jerry gets a job, soon. That once he does, we can take the laptop to a comptuer expert and see if the pictures and files can at least be saved from it.

I am hearing... Jerry is watching "Pinks" on the tv

Around the house... Beth bought a new phone today. She'll be paying for her own service as well. We will "carry" the service for her phone for about another month, then have it expire.

One of my favorite things...

A few plans for the rest of the week... Plans for the weekend, really. I need to go into the middle bedroom, sort and repack our stuff. It's getting a bit wild in there.

Life, and the day after Thanksgiving

Hello, Life is good. luck not so much. My laptop is not working at all, right now. It get's to the Dell logo, then just keeps looping back to it. With Jerry not working, we have no money to have it looked at. This is way beyond our ability to fix, this time. When I left Beth's home in Spring of 08, I left behind a desktop computer because it was having issues with aol... I've got it back, but none of my old files are still on it.. I guess it just sat for too long for any of them to be safe. No pictures, no recipes, nadda. But at least I can still get on- line with it, using our Spring wireless access. Now today, on the tv, I see Sprint has a newer access and it will be a year at least, before I can get one of them.. it says it's a 4 g. I'm good with the one I have, for now.

We had a great day yesterday. The turkey was falling off the bones, cut in the pan, serve yourself. I never made the banana bread like I had wanted, but we had so much that there is no room in the fridge for it anyway. I deboned the turkey and seperated the dark meat from the light. We have enough meat for at least a week's worth of sandwiches. The dressing turned out ok.. I doubt any one ate any of it, but me. Beth is the on who wanted it. The cranberry sauce turned out good. I used about 2/3rd of a cup of sugar compaired to the cup of sugar the back of the package called for and it's still sweet enough. MaKeya made up the deviled eggs, she did a great job of it, Espceally when you consider she doesn't eat them at all. I baked a sweet potato, I think I'm the only one who had any of it, as well. I know Josh ate some of the brownies and I think all three of the younger people had the no bakes I had made up the day befor. We had the usual cut vegetables, cottage cheese and olives at the table. We also had some finish baking rolls that went fast. I made gravey, but I think the dogs all got to enjoy it. MaKeya also made up the mashed potatoes with the recipe Beth knew so it was a joint effort. All in all it was a great day and no arguing from anyone.

For Today... Nov 22, 2009

Outside my window... ( 11 am)It's foggy but the fog is going away. Cloudy and gray. In the mid 50's. Typical Missouri weather for November

I am thinking... (11am)Payback are, well.. Jerry has a habit of just changing the channel on the tv without even checking if I'm paying attention to what's on. I did it to him today and he didn't like it at all. He

I am thankful for...

From the kitchen...(11 am) don't know yet.

I am wearing... (11 am) Dark grey sweats and light blue sweat shirt. I'm tired of being cold

I am reading... emails

I am hoping...(11am) That Jerry hears from a job soon. I

I am creating...(11 am) Stil need to make place mats. Think I'll work on that this afternoon, now that I have my computer back in a back bedroom and away from the tv set.

I am hearing...(11 am) Beth taking a shower. I had to help remove the dressing so she could get wet.. I'll be glade when that drain is out and she can totally take care of herself. I'm sure that is what Beth wants as well.

Around the house...(11) Need to finish cleaning the kitchen where I started it yesterday. Clear the counters and get ready to do some major cooking for Thanksgiving. I am hoping that someone will call with a job for us to be on the Monday after Thanksgiving. That would be great timing, for sure.

One of my favorite things...

A few plans for the rest of the week...(11 am) Cleaning the rest of this house, cooking Thanksgiving dinner, repacking our stuff and keeping it all compact and ready to go.

For Today... Nov 18, 2009

Outside my window... It's dark, now but it was cloudy and cold out all day long, today. All of yesterdays snow has melted and it's a muddy mess outside.

I am thinking... McCoy is a great Fellow. He called Jerry with news of a job in PA. too bad it's too far away. There is no way Jerry can get there, take a test and set up for just a couple of weeks worth of work. But at least the Lady at Fagen knows Jerry is looking for work, again. We are trying to figure out a way to get Jerry there, but we just can't figure out a way to do it.

I am thankful for... Heat. I have been "cold" all day long. I Know I'm not cold but my feet are cold.

From the kitchen...

Since Beth is feeling better, I have a roast in the oven. I sprayed the oven pan with some oil spray, put in the roast then I diced up a couple of large potatoes into large chunks. Opened a can of green beans and peeled and chunked a couple of large carrots as well. We have some rolls in the fridge that need to be warmed up, Going to do that closer to dinner time while the roast rests. I better go see if I can find the pudding that Beth requested as well.

I love a roast, they are so easy to fix, just drop every thing into the pan, cover and pop into the oven.

I am wearing...

Maroon Sweat-pants and a purple sweat shirt.

I am hoping... That a job comes up soon, for Jerry and that we can figure out a way to get him to it.

I am creating... Not much. I do need to make some place matts for Beth's table soon. Thanksgiving is next week.

I am hearing..."Pellum 123" on the tv. intresting

Around the house... Doing a few here and there things. Cleaned out the storage area under the stove.

For Today... Nov 16, 2009

Great News. Beth is coming home from the hospital today. She was released about 9:30 and after a stop at Wal-Mart will be on her way home. I'm rushing to get her bed cleared off and made. I have almost all the clothes washed, now and in basket on the bed. Easy to clear but still needs putting away

Outside my window... It's raining with a good chance of switching over to snow this afternoon. I'll do my usual and go dance in the first snow of the year (Yes, I'm 52) and enjoy this first snow.. There are 3 snow falls I love each year.. the first one, A Christmas one and the last one.

It's dark now. No snow. Although we had a chance all day long for it, it didn't happen. We are still under a snow advisory until in the morning

I am thinking... How Happy I am that Beth will be home and healing soon. It really was a bit of touch and go there for a bit, I'm sure. When I look at the pictures that were taken of her insides, and how black and ugly that thing was.. I wonder just how in the world she put up with all that pain.
It's time for bed. I wrote all the stuff in black this morning around 9am

I am thankful for... Excelsior Spring Hospital, and the Doctors and Nurses there that took such great care of my daughter. She is one tough cookie.. I don't think she really knew just how tough until now.

A roof over our head tonight.. sleeping in the van would be very uncomfortable right about now.

From the kitchen... Beth is on a bland diet. For dinner I'm thinking o making some Chicken noodle soup. Without onions or garlic in it. (I can add those to my bowl, won't be the same as cooked in, but still... better than no flavor) I have a cake mix I think I'll make up for dessert. If I get enough time, I may even make some biscuits to go with the soup.

Ended up making Chicken and dumplings.. turned out very good even if I do say so.. usually my "dumplings" turn into goo. Not this time although they did thicken up the soup a lot, it was still very tasty even without garlic or onion in it. Didn't make the cake, maybe tomorrow.

I am wearing... Dark Gray Sweat and my Rebel Wild and Free t-shirt.

I am reading... Nothing right this minute.. hope to start a book, soon. I realised I have started several books over the last few months and not finished one of them.

I am hoping... That the snow hold off until Beth is save at home, That Jerry can find Beth's keys. He had them last and lost them.
That Jerry will get that phone call we have been waiting for. Driving us up a wall that he hasn't had a call, yet. We have even talked about how we would handle things here if he got that call.

I am hearing... Tv in the background and the dryer. Price is right is about to come on. I need to go fold the clean clothes.
The rain on the metal roof of this barn. Yes I said barn.. Beth's place is a living quarters built inside a morton building. Many people in this county do that, to get around some of the "rules" of building a house on less than 20 acers of land.

Around the house... Putting away The clean clothes, made the bed. Need to clean the kitchen up, again. I did vacume the carpets a bit ago. Need to clean the bathroom as well.
Got all the laundry wash and folded. Not all put away yet. Now to just keep up with it, and do the rest of the general cleaning. Tomorrow will be a through kitchen clean up (again) and from there the living room and bathroom.
One of my favorite things... Anticitpation of first snow. I may not like any other snow this year, but I have always loved the first snow fall of the season.

A few plans for the rest of the week.. Work on my Craft letter that goes out on weekdays. Plan Thanksgiving dinne since we will have 5 here for dinner, (if not more) and doing some more cleaning

Nov 15

Beth should be home tomorrow. We don't know what time, yet. They hung one more bag of antibotics this evening right before Jerry and I left her with two friends, watching the movit "UP". Josh brought in a DVD player from his home and hooked it to her tv. that was a show in and of it's self. Jerry has been a true sweetheart in helping me clean up in here. He's done both back bedrooms with me doing her bedroom. I still have to make her bed and I'm doing laundry still. I forgot to ask her which set of sheets she wants on her bed. I have my coat in the washer now. soon to go into the dryer. Want it nice and clean an dry for her to come home in, tomorrow. Jerry will have to call me and let me know when they are leaving so I can walk our two dogs and then put them in kennels.. I'll only let one out at a time when she gets in and the first will be Macon.. he's much more calm than Rocky is. I'm sure Beth will have plenty of instruction sheets to read and follow. I plan on Chicken noodle soup, since she's to be on a bland diet for a few more days.

Nov 14, 2009

Hello, Beth is on the mend. She should have her drain removed in a few days. The stuff coming out is a healthy light red and expected to change to a clearer color soon. She will be on I.V. antibotics until Monday and then on a round of pill antibotics for a while. She's on Dilodin for pain but the doctor said he was changing that to a pill as well. She should be coming home on Monday and then I get to spoil her rotten for a few days. She's stressing about losing all this work but she's young and will learn that no matter what goes on. She will survive this as well. Sure it's a set back in her time table of buying a car and a few other things. But I'm sure, over time, she is going to realize that even the best of plans need a margin for the unexpected as well as the expected and to add at least a third more time to any plans, to be on the good side.

Jerry is still job hunting and got a lead from a friend yesterday that he' will follow up on, On Monday when their office opens.. Would be nice as the job that was talked about is on the Texas coast line and he'd love to go there for a while. Don't want to jinx it so we will just wait and see. We have already talked about what he'll take with him and how he'll live for a couple of weeks before the next pay check would come in. We will make it, won't be easy but we will survive, just like we tell Beth she will.

We were only with Beth a bit over an hour since she was falling asleep. She had just been given her pain shot. We've been cleaning her house for her. I can hope that, once we get it back into shape she can keep it up, once we leave. Beth is not a house keeper, but she's trying. Working two jobs does not help with trying to keep up with house work. But she will learn that she's got to do it, when she can, as she can, even if it's only one part of one room at a time.

Nov 11, 2009

Beth went in to the hospital this late morning and after a few tests, it was confirmed that her appendix had ruptured, a few days ago. Surgery went well. The doctor said that out of over 2000 of these that he's done, this one ranks up in the top 5 for being so bad. We have pictures. (on man) Barring any complications she should be home in 3 to 5 days, and I get to help take care of the drainage tube until it comes out. There is a slight chance that she may have to have more surgery if the area of her small colon where it was stuck the mess that was once an appendix doesn't heal like it should. I'll keep you posted. When we left she was sleeping on her side and was still pale but feeling much better. Post surgery will be closely watched for a few days.
Jerry posted the horse trailers on Craigs list, went to take pictures of the larger one and found it had been stolen. Going to file a complaint tomorrow on it.. Too much going on today to worry about it. It's been gone about two weeks according to a neighbor.

For Today... Nov 10, 2009

For Today...

Nov 10, 2009

Outside my window... Well, right now I can't see anything outside my window as it's dark, but earlier, It's been a coler, cloudier day. Still. the tempature was above "normal" and I didn't really need a jacket when I walked to dog. Just didn't stay out that long is all. A bit longer stay outside and I would have wanted that jacket

I am thinking... I really need to make Beth a lunchbag to carry her lunch to work in. A simple bag would be best.
I really wish the phone would ring with a job for Jerry. This sitting around waiting for a call is really getting to me. Jerry spends way too much time sleeping in the chair. He turns on something on the tv that I really have no intrest at all in, then falls asleep. If I change the channel, he wakes up and unless I'm sitting right there watching the tv, changes it again. I have the tv on for noise during the day, but I don't sit in front and "Watch" it. I have certain shows that I like for background noise. forensic or crime shows are not it.

From the kitchen... We (Jerry and I) share the cooking when he's not working. Jerry did the cooking tonight. He grilled some chicken strips, fixed a package of Alfredo noodles and a can of green beans I found in our stash. For our having a balanced meal, we all three were still grazing afterwards. Jerry eating chips, me going for more dairy items and nuts.

I am wearing... Dark Grey sweats and a light blue t

I am hoping... Still hoping for the same thing, a job for Jerry so we can get out of here.

I am creating... Nothing at this time.

I am hearing...Sam barking at the deer, news on the tv, the fridge running

Around the house... I did a couple of loads of laundry. Did up some dishes before Breakfast but that's it. No motovation to clean around here.

A few plans for the rest of the week... I really do need to get motovated to clean. It's not my house, it's Beth's. She doesn't care. She doesn't care that, even when I'm here doing for her, she's making more work for me. She "forgot" to take her belt out of her pants. No big deal. I just didn't do any more laundry today. I can it later. Instead of washing her dishes in the standing washing water in the sink, she will put her dishes by the sink. I even said she could wash up her dishes when she finished eating. Jerry will at least put his dishes in the water. Jerry has been doing most of the dog walking. They go to him when they need out unless he's asleep, then they come to me.

I took a tumble off the arm of the couch yesterday morning. I didn't get hurt, I'm just frustrated in that, I have to sit on the floor to get my right foot close enough I can put a sock on. I was proping my leg on the couch to get my foot close enough but I can't afford another fall that may hurt me. It's not the fact that I'm on the floor, it's the getting up off the floor that hurts. I have very little fat left in my knees and they hurt while I'm on them. I'm just lucky that I don't get the urge to wash the floor on my hands and knees as in the old days. I would never get it done.

For Today...

Nov 9, 2009

Outside my window... It's dark, now. but earlier it was cloudy but warm. We just had a rain shower a few minutes ago. We were out, shopping and going to storage and I didn't need my jacket even. So even though it was gray out, it wasn't cold

I am thinking... Not much. Just keeping busy finding links to crafts for the crafts newsletter I put out on weekdays. Jerry is still job hunting. We did some shopping for Thanksgiving and Beth picked up a few things for Christmas.

I am thankful for... Warm clothes. I hate being cold and clothes are nice to have on.

From the kitchen... We are having baked potatoes, baked maranated pork chops, and cut up fresh vegetables for dinner.

I am wearing... dark gray sweat pants and a light purple tshirt from Reelfoot lake

I am reading... I was looking at books at Walmart, but Jerry was ready to leave and was pushing me to hurry up. so I didn't pick up any new books.

I am hoping... That Jerry gets a job soon. I hate going shopping with him because once he's done shopping, he's done and doesn't want to wait for me to finish looking.

I am creating... A craft links notebook

I am hearing... Jerry snoring and news on the tv

Around the house... after shopping and putting away no one did much of any thing else. I hate it when it's like this.

One of my favorite things... Jerry walking the dogs for me. Yes, I know, I need to walk them, but we walked all over Walmart and my feet now hurt.

A few plans for the rest of the week... I am going to make a cleaning plan for Beth's house. I know she won't help with it or stick to it, but if I make a plan I know I can work with it and get things done for a while.

For Today... Nov 8, 2009

For Today... Nov 8, 2009

Outside my window... The sky is a bit cloudy but still can see plenty of Blue as well. I was just outside. I had to untangle our two dogs, then call up Sam and put him back on his line as well. He had slipped off and was running amoke with Molly having a grand old time, much to the dis pleasure of our own two dogs. We have tied them out for a few hours today while the weather is still so nice.. soon enough we will have to keep them inside more.

I am thinking... Jerry and Beth can sleep through almost any thing. The dogs barking. The clanking of buckles in the dryer and a boring tv show. But if I tried to change the channel, they would both wake up, I'm sure. We need to go to the store, but both of them are too alseep to go. We can go tomorrow just as easily as we can go today. We do need milk, but Beth can pick that up from work just as easily. This is her last week at Casey's. She's quitting because she can't get enough hours to warrent the drive in to work and there have been times that she was scheduled to work until 10 when she clearly told the manager she can't work past 9.

I am thankful for... A roof over our heads. Yes, it's a barn, and yes it has problems but we could still be in a motel someplace, which would be more uncomfortable than here. We have food enough, even if it's not on my diet,

From the kitchen... Catch as Catch can, tonight .we have lots of left overs than need to be eaten or tossed. I don't know what Beth wants before she leaves for work.

I am wearing... I'm wearing maroon sweats and a light purple, darker than lavendar t shirt.

I am reading... Emails. I had to rebuild my crafts links stash for a news letter I put out 5 days a week

I am hoping... That Jerry gets a job soon.

I am creating... A mess, Still trying to get to a tub with lots of material in it that needs to be washed before I try to make any thing with it.

I am hearing... Some boring thing on the tv about scurvy and old bones and it's been on a long, long time

Around the house...Just doing some laundry. Nothing else today. I try to take Sunday's off of all but the most basic of house work.

One of my favorite things... I enjoyed a few minutes outside today, just feeling the breeze on my cheek and watching Beth's dogs romp. Sam is an easy catch when he's loose and knows he's not in trouble. He's allowed to run when we are not here, but he has a problem with our two dogs. He gets to run at night and is put back on his line in the morning. It's always fun to watch dogs play. They don't care what they look like when they do it, they just enjoy.. I think, as an adult, I have forgotten what that's like to do and not worry what it looks like to someone else.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Well, I'm going to have to get serious about cleaning here, I guess. Beth sure isn't doing any cleaning at all.

Some craft link to share

Hello. I can sure tell it's mid fall in Missouri. Almost all the leaves have fallen off the trees in the back yard. Luckly we don't have to rake them as the wind does most of that for us. (ha ha) . As many know. we are staying at my younger daughter's home while my Husband is job hunting. It's one of the pit falls of working heavy construction. Sometimes there are longer breaks between jobs than anticipated. Luckly we get along with our kids and she is loving the company right now. Getting some of Mom's home cooked meals and Dad is driving her to work at night. The van she drives really should have gone in for cash for clunkers. If that program comes around again it just may. We had frost this morning outside, when DH went to pick up DD.. our dogs insisted on going for a ride in the back of our van. They were very happy to come inside where it's warm when they got back home. Don't forget to check the links at the bottom of the news letter. They are great ideas and I'm just passing along craft ideas I find.

For Today... Nov 5. 2009

For Today... Nov 5. 2009

Outside my window... The sky is blue and the weather is cool but clear. Need a jacket but not a coat when going outside.

I am thinking... I am going to have to clean up Beth's house. Jerry told me this morning that he called all the offices of the major construction places he's worked before and none of them are hiring at all until after the first of the year, if then. If we are going to stay here for much longer it's got to be cleaner. I took a dust mop and took down all the dust webs in the ceiling corners and off the walls and ceiling in the kitchen, living room and hallway this morning. I do not "want" to clean my daughter house. It's her house, to clean. But if I'm going to be here till the first of 2010, I want to feel comfortable and not icky. I know she would want me to clean it. But she'll not maintain it after we leave. I'll do it for us (Jerry and I), because I need to, not because I want to.

I am thankful for... An understanding Husband. He knows I'm stressing over his not having a job. I have certain meds that are costly. No way can we afford them when he's not working and have insurance to help cover their cost. I "can" live without them. but I'd rather not. I'll have to wean myself off of the one as just stopping it is not a good thing for me. The one we can afford is my insluin. I can buy it over the counter at most any pharmacy. It's not ideal, but possible. When I first went on Insluin. My doctor at the time wanted to put me on pills and I told him, shots would be better because we never know where we will be from month to month and I can buy needles and insluin without having to have script for them. He said that was smart of me to know and he understood what I was saying. The pills may be better, but not as easy to get at times.

From the kitchen... Jerry cooked last night. I'll cook tonight. Beth works from 7 to 9 at the convience store, comes home long enough to change clothes, pack a lunch then goes to her 11 to 7 job. So what ever I fix, will have to be done before 6 so she has time to eat. Beth's been great about taking left overs with her to work. I have been trying to keep a few Non left over items on hand for her because I know how it is eating left overs all the time.

I am wearing... Dark Gray sweats and a blue tshirt we got from the Reel-foot lake area.

I am reading... I found a few books I saved on my computer and one is from the 1850's. I started it this morning and want to read more of it, soon.

I am hoping... Jerry just went to the local library to get a better connection for his computer. He's tried using this sprint service on his and he can't get it to work like it should. He's going to check with North Carolina's job search site to see if a job in Rockinham is hiring or not. He hopes to be able to get on that job. We were supose to go to that one when we left Memphis. of course, Memphis was supose to last until Christmas time.. so that's a lot of suppose to, that didn't happen.

I am creating... A mess. No really. I have a box of cloth scraps in the bottom of a tub that need washing and ironing that I need to do. I have to remove everything from that tub first and that is what is making the mess. I'll have to sort and repack that tub when I get done. I hope to make a few doll clothes while I have those scraps out.

I am hearing... Martha on the tv. I'll be changing over to Y&R here in a few minutes

Around the house... Beth's kitchen sink has a good drip for water. No water stream at all, so we have to carry water in a bucket from the tub to the sink in order to do dishes. (feels like I'm a kid again, back in Colorado when whe had to carry in water for just about every thing, for 2 years) I'll be doing the dishes here in a bit because there are only enough plates for one meal at a time. I'll be sweeping and moping the floor in a while as well. I think I better clear off this table and take care of a few things on it so we can sit at it to eat. That means moving my computer to the back bedroom again. but I can deal with that. I may bring in one of our little folding tables for my computer. that would be easier as well.

One of my favorite things... Early morning, just as the sun comes up.. looking out and knowing that a new day is starting and that there is still life. We will get through all this, I just dont know how, yet.

For Today... Nov 2, 2009

For Today... Nov 2, 2009

Outside my window... Today was beautiful. Pleasant tempature, A few high clouds and Just plain nice. A couple of weeks ago, I would have sworn that we were going to have snow on the ground by now from the way things were going. According to the forcast, we are in for a very nice week. with little chance of rain, and highs in the 60's almost unheard of, for this time of the year.

I am thinking... We had a good weekend. Although we didn't "Do" any thing for Halloween, we had fun toghter. Beth dressed up and we went shopping at Walmart. We sat and watched Ghost Hunters. Today I helped Beth die her hair a dark blue black. I've not done that before with her. I helped Heather, once, long ago. Far as I can tell I got all of her hair with the dye and it's not a bad look on her.

I am thankful for... Pleasant Days. We are still waiting for a phone call and it's eating at my nerves that Jerry still does not have a job this close to Christmas. We will get through this as we always do, together. I did take the dogs out a couple of times today. We share that responsiblity and it's always fun to see who the dogs will ask to take them out. Usually it's Jerry they go to, I think because he will walk all around the yard, where as I walk down the gravel a bit then back once they do what they are out for. I'm not sure where Beth takes them as I don't see her, when she's walking the dogs. Beth for taking us out for Breakfast this morning.

From the kitchen... I made a pork soup. Beth says it's soup not stew because it's not very thick and doesn't have any tomatoes in it. It's still good. I braised a package of cut up pork pieces in a bit of bacon grease in the bottom of the pan. Seasoned with some W-sauce, garlic and onion salt and a couple of good shakes from the season all can. Added lots of water, a package of Frozen vegetables from the freezer and a 1/2 cup of rice and let cook an hour. I then added 1/2 a package of noodles and let simmer a while more. It's nice and thick and filling. Jerry has no idea what he's missing. He didn't want any, and opted to cook something for himself instead. Now Jerry is making a dessert for us. Cake.

I am wearing... Dark grey sweats, and a blue t-shirt. I have three pairs of dark gray sweats.

I am reading... emails

I am hoping... Jerry gets a job soon. We can survive off his un-employment but only just. It's not enough to get us to the next job and in a motel room for two weeks, before the next paycheck comes in.

I am creating... I am thinking of starting a yahoo group, much like Susan's daily dose. She shares pictures and recipes and such and I thought that might be a fun thing to do.

I am hearing... Ncis on USA,

Around the house... I helped Beth dye her hair. Helped wash a load of laundry. Still need to fold what's in the dryer. Started cleaning off Beth's table. She wants to put a nice table cloth on it.

One of my favorite things... Watching the dogs play. They do so with no qualms of looking funny doing so. They just "Play".

A few plans for the rest of the week... I am going to work on Beth's house a bit. The kitchen will be first.

For Today... Nov 1, 2009

Outside my window... Today was nice outside. Didn't need a jacket to walk the dogs. A couple of weeks ago I would have sworn that we would have snow on the ground by now. Instead it was a very pleasant day outside.

I am thinking... I'm going to have to do some "real" house cleaning around here soon. Just to have something positive to do with my time.

I am thankful for... Family. I had a blow up this afternoon. Mainly due to stress. And my family forgives me for it.

From the kitchen... Jerry cooked. Little smokies, mac and cheese, and fixed a can of peas as well. We also had a roll to go with it.

I am wearing... light grey sweats and a blue and white print shirt. doing laundry today so I can wear something differnt tomorrow

I am reading... emails from the past

I am hoping... That Jerry gets a job soon. We may not have enough money left to pay two weeks of motel even if he does get a job.. That would really make it bad.

I am creating... nothing at this time

I am hearing... The dryer running. Earlier I was outside and heard some geese high up in the sky.

Around the house... Just doing a bit of laundry, because I need some clean clothes. Beth did dishes. Jerry did some cooking

A few plans for the rest of the week.. Need to go through my suitcase and the clothes in the van and see if I can leave some behind that I no longer really need.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween.

We went to town for a bit, Stopped in at the Library for some free on line for Jerry and Beth. Jerry found a few phone numbers to call on Monday for job searching. Beth was updating her computer. I sat for a bit with them. Talked to an old friend a bit, catching her up on current events in the family including my nephew getting married this past summer to one of Beth's friends. and a bit of chit chat. Hard to believe that her oldest is now 18. Kids grow too fast these days.

I've learned that it doesn't do any good in trying to defend or explain yourself. No one is going to want to believe you any way. People will think what they want and condem you any way, because they can.

Oh, I didn't mention, Beth was dressed up today. as a vampire. She's so enjoyed reading the Twilight books and Has talked me into watching the movie. Intresting to say the least. I try to never condiem a book or movie without at least trying to view it. I'm not much of a vampire reading person but now she's got me intrested in reading at least the first book of the series. I have started the Harry Potter books a few times and just can't seem to get intrested in them enough to keep reading. That being said, I see no harm in the average kid reading them either.

Back to Beth's being dressed up. She got lots of "Looks" while we were wondering around the local Wal-mart. One kid really enjoyed her look and was thrilled that she would talk to him about dressing up. He kept telling his Dad he should have worn his costume as well. A few other small kids were dressed out. Some of the "Adults" kinda looked down their noses at her. I figure they have their oponion. She can do as she will, she's old enough and besides she was having fun. With the month we have had, a little fun was very needed.

Jerry and Beth ended up going back to town, once we got home to pick up a few missed items. I stayed home, as much to keep the dogs company as anything. No trick or treaters here. We are too far from the road and to far out of town for any one to stop in. The plans Beth had, fell though when her friend she was going to go out with, had other plans for this evening.

Turn back the clocks tonight. Great. Oh well. we will be jumping the clocks ahead soon enough. eithe way the day will only have so much sun shine no matter what time the clock says it is. try to explane to dogs that it's too early, when the sun is peeking through the windows and they are use to going out a dawn first light.

For Today... October 28, 2009

Outside my window... Today was sunny and in the 50's but we are going to have more rain and cold starting later tonight

I am thinking... hurting to much to know what I'm thinking. b2 years in a group and removed. I hope that the other woman was also removed. I didn't start it. I answered her email to me and then got ripped to shreds. Life is un-fair and some people can be very spiteful.

From the kitchen... fish sticks, mashed potatoes and green beans

I am wearing... dark gray sweats and a tshirt

I am hearing... the dryer

Around the house... Just when I think I have things figured out, chaos happens

For Today... October 21, 2009

Outside my window... (6 pm ) The skies are dark and gray and it's been raining off an on all day long

I am thinking... (6 pm ), I may end up having to bring in our stuff from out of the van. I hope not. But we've been at Beth's house for over a week now. and still no jobs to go to.

I am thankful for... (6 pm ), Internet. I do not want to have to clean my daughters' house. I did it last time I was here. With the internet, I have something to do while everyone else is either sleeping or playing a ps1 game.

From the kitchen... (6 pm ) Potato soup. Jerry said he's not sure he'll want any of it. Because I put about a 1/3rd of a bag of mixed vegetables in it. I like it like that and Beth said she does as well.

I am wearing... (6 pm ) I am getting tired of only wearing two outfits. but I don't want to have to bring in my suitcase. Today is gray sweatpants (I have 4 pair of them, plus other colors) and my rebel shirt with a horse on it.

I am reading... (6 pm ) besides emails, A Country Living magazine.

I am hoping... (6 pm ) broken record here. That the phone will ring with a job for Jerry to go to. I als hope that the weather will clear up and we can have some nice days. Missouri isn't usually like this so soon in the colder seasons.

I am creating... (6 pm ) Nothing at this time.

I am hearing... (6 pm ) I am playing the midi's I have saved on my computer. rain on the roof over my head

Around the house... (6 pm ) I did up some dishes.

One of my favorite things... Is watching Jerry take the dogs out. They will walk him all over the yard if he'll let them. I only walk down the driveway a bit, and back with them. Molly, Beth's dog, loves to trip over their lines.

A few plans for the rest of the week... (6 pm ) none made, yet.

For Today... Tuesday October 20, 2009

For Today... Tuesday October 20, 2009

Outside my window... (9 am) We had a brief storm come through before sun rise. Now the skies are claen and it's fresh out-side. If I didn't know it's fall I would say it feels like Spring out side. (9 pm) It's dark outside, now and raining. We had a good day for the most part far as weather goes. Warm enough I didn't need a jacket. Cool enough to have a window down in the van while we were driving back home. But now, it's wet out and I know my dogs are not going to want to go out in that. Poor Sam, he's on a chain outside. Once our dogs are walked one more time, he'll be allowed off for the night. If he didnt try to fight with Macon all the time, he wouldn't have to be on a chain during the day.

I am thinking... (9 am) I don't know what I want to do. I could clean at the house for Beth. but I don't know where to put things. I don't want to start laundry because it's noisy and she's sleeping right now. (9 pm), All in all, things are going good. We may have to clean it, but Beth has a nice place to stay. The dogs are welcomed and we are trying to help her train Molly as well.

I am thankful for... (9 am) cell phones. I was able to text Beth that "Dad" was running a bit late. We didn't wake up until 7 am. Which is time to pick her up, not leave the house. That way she didn't have to worry that something may have happend to him on his way to get her. It was still dark when he left and I walked the dogs after he left.
(9 pm), My children. Each one has been very good in offering to help us in some way or another.

From the kitchen... (9 am) not sure yet. We had hot dogs, mashed potatoes and green beans last night. Maybe I can put together that lagzana Beth wants for supper, tonight for her. (9 pm). yes, We fixed the lazanga for dinner along with some rolls. I really should have eaten earlier but since my sugar was higher than usual, I'm doing ok. Can't help what Beth's schedual is like.

I am wearing... (9 am) gray sweats and my Reble tshirt that has a horse on it.

I am reading...(9 am) emails and old recipes in a notebook (9 pm) still reading emails.

I am hoping... (9 am) That Jerry will get a phone call on a job today. (9 pm) Jerry gets a phone call tomorrow. George said he would call either Tuesday or Wendsday, and since he didn't call today, hope for that call tomorrow (praying for it)

I am creating... (9 am) a mess. well not really but I'm no making any thing either at this time.

I am hearing... (9 am) the fan on the comptuer. (9 pm) the rain outside

Around the house... (9 am) Keeping it quiet so Beth can rest. I did up the dishes and have more to go, as soon as we eat. The meal is cooked, now we just have to sit and eat. Jerry is fixing the rolls.

One of my favorite things...(9 am) Eating Lunch with my Friend Vicky. We enjoy going to the Pekin in town and talking. I think we end up doing more talking than eating, if that's possible.

(9 pm) is hearing Jerry snoring. I know he's needing the rest he's getting here.

A few plans for the rest of the week... (9 am) straigthen up the back of the van, and repack it for more room.

For Today... October 19, 2009

For Today... October 19, 2009

Outside my window... (1 pm) The sky is blue and the breeze is warm and it feels great to be outside. I even have a window open to let in fresh air. Now this is much more like it should be, for the middle of October.

(4 pm) It's still very nice out. The breeze has even stopped for a bit. I had the window open most of this afternoon. Bugs keep hitting the glass.

I am thinking... (1 pm) Im bored. I swept the floor here in the little bedroom that I get good connections in. smells much better now. I still need to spray some Lysol around, though. (4 pm) I sure am glade I have the internet to distract me. I put out a news letter and it took me a couple of hours this afternoon to find all I wanted to put into it.

I am thankful for... (1 pm) George calling Jerry over the weekend, or we would have been in LA without a job right now. I know Jerry gave Amy his phone number, I heard him do it, but she says she never got it. Hum.
(4 pm) Short lines at Aldi's on a Monday. We did see a happy little boy who loved to smile back at us. Beth paid for the stuff we bought. She's in a cooking mood, now that we are here. I also wanted to make a few things that I don't often get to make as well. She's also starting to gather stuff up for holiday meals. I don't blame her for doing that at all.

From the kitchen... (1 pm) Beth made up a tuna casserole, but I think it's more for her lunch than our meals. I don't know yet, what dinner will be. She's thinking of Lasinga for our meal. (4 pm)I'm to wake Beth up at 5 pm. I went looking for open peanut butter and the only one I found was a jar she used to treat the dogs with. I'll either open the new one, or get one of ours out of the van in a little bit. Beth is wanting our no bake chocolate cookies. I'm really not suppose to have any of those. High Sugar .

I am wearing... (1 pm) blue and white printed top, gray sweats.

I am reading... (1 pm) emails (4 pm) more emails and some craft sites for football crafts.

I am hoping... (1 pm) That the phone rings with a job for Jerry. (broken recond, ins't it?) (4 pm) Still hopeing for the same thing.

I am creating... (1 pm) Nothing at this time.

I am hearing... The breeze rattle the weeds outside the window and the leaves on the nearby trees and a dog barking. Oh a car horn as well.

Around the house... I swept the bedroom floor and did up some dishes. I am waiting for the dryer to be empty to start another load of laundry. I folded up the load in the dryer but not started another load, yet. There's enough darks for a load. I'm now waiting for Jerry to empty his shirt pockets.

One of my favorite things... Water, fresh cool drinking water. .. (4 pm) I filled a cola bottle with water, lemon juice and a couple of packets of sweetner. I was looking for coffee filters for Beth's pot but couldn't find any.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Not making any plans, really Going to make a pot of chili one day and a pot of potato soup another. After tomorrow the weather is suppose to get cold and raw again and soups would be a great way to warm up. (4 pm) Still not any plans, yet.

For Today... October 14, 2009

For Today... October 14, 2009

Outside my window... It has been grey and cold and miserable all day long.

I am thinking... I think I am about done with Beth's laundry. A couple of blankets and that should be it, except for keeping it up. Need to do our change of clothes as well.

I am thankful for... For internet friends. I can relate my miseries and not dwell in that black hole those miseries could become. fighting a deep depression that comes with miserable weather and adult children not doing as asked.

From the kitchen... Dinner was pork chops, diced fried potatoes (Mr. Dell's) and a can of peas. Breakfast was pancakes and eggs. Mine ended up cold. since I had to cook the batter. oh well.

I am wearing... same thing I had on yesterday. will change in the am, after a bath Not wanting to bring in too much from the van so washing and rewearing what we have out, for now.

I am reading... emails

I am hoping... That Jerry's phone will ring and iy is for a job for us to go to, soon.

I am hearing... The dryer working, and rain on the roof.

Around the house... The dishes are done and so is the laundry. If we are going to have to stay over the weekend, I need to clean up the middle bedroom so we can put some of our stuff in it. It has a small amount of mouse signs in it. Want to go over the kitchen counters again with the lysol and then get the floors mopped. it's a mom thing.

One of my favorite things... Beth gave the dogs a toy and they have had fun playing keep away with it, from Beth. Macon has wiped out on the kitchen floor a couple of times since it's a slick linolimun.

A few plans for the rest of the week... No plans except dinner at Jerry's sisters' house on Friday eveing. And putting some flowers at Dad's grave sometime this weekend.

For Today... October 13, 2009

For Today... October 13, 2009

I ended up sleeping most of this day. Just worn out, I guess. We are at Beth's house until Jerry gets a call for a job to go to. I'll not go into details, but a job call would be most welcomed right now. Cleaning house is the least of it. I'be been doing laundry for her for two days now, and there is still 2 baskets worth to go. Found out, a Hunters' shirt I left with her hasn't been washed since I left it here. 1 1/2 years ago. We found our mail and went through it. Found the insurance cards she said were not here. Of course this was after we stopped at the insurance office and got temporary ones, again. Grrr. Jerry made a couple more phone calls today. We hope to hear somthing soon.

Outside my window... The skys are grey and cloudy. I think we are to get rain. I havn't heard a forcast.. rom what little I've seen I woud say that Missouri is going to have an early, cold, hard winter this year. It's not been "Cold" today, but it's not warm either. The day fits my mood well.

I am thinking... I have some hard choices to make soon. None of which are going to be very pleasing. If wishes were horses, we would all be up to our knees in horse poo.

I am thankful for... Jerry's patience. He waited for me, while I had lunch with a good friend today. I thought he had some other things he wanted to do, or we wouldn't have taken soo long for our lunch.

From the kitchen... Dinner was a sandwich. I had a good size lunch and I guess Jerry did as well. He ate at the bowling center close to where I had lunch at the Pekin.

I am wearing... My Dixie, Wild and Free shirt and dark grey sweat pants.

I am reading... emails only.

I am hoping... That the phone call for a job comes in soon. We need out of here.

I am hearing... A movie based on a video game that Jerry is playing. (both the game and the movie)

Around the house... I have been doing up dishes and laundry for Beth. Needed to do dishes to have something to eat off of. Laundry to help get it cleaned up in here. One of the dogs had an upset tummy last night. I think it was Rocky since he's good about tossing his cookies in a kennel. I had to clean it up, today as well.

October 10, 2009

For Today... October 10, 2009

Outside my window... The skies are grey. We did notice that some of the trees around here have changed color overnight.

I am thinking... I hope we take the longest time route to go to Beth's house, because it's not interstate and we will be able to watch the land and color change more.

I am thankful for... Understanding people. I'm sure that the man who we bought a tire off of, was wanting to hurry and close up his shop, yet he let us buy and have mounted a tire any way.

From the kitchen... sandwiches, fresh fruit and chips. Finger foods, mainly since I've packed up the dishes already

I am wearing... dark grey sweats and a printed top with eyor on it. It's almost too light for this weather

I am reading... emails

I am hoping... That we have an un-eventful trip tomorrow. Also that we are not too long at Beth's. A week or two would be nice, but longer than that would really be hard on u

Around the house... Everything is packed but the computers and some clothes.

One of my favorite things... Jerry walking the dogs. There are two more dogs here now. He looked out and saw that one was being walked so walked our out back. The spotted a couple of doves and I guess Macon saw them about the same time. Macon is now curouise about other animals. Last night, it was squirls.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Spend time with Beth, Let her sleep when she can, and have lunch with a good friend on Tuesday.

After a late breakfast, we went looking for a tire to replace on the spares' rim. We found one, about 10 minutes before the place was to close, I bet that was one of the fastest tire changes ever cause they closed on time.

While we were driving around, looking for a tire, we noticed a huge change in the colors on the trees now. Although it didn't feeze last night we did notice a huge change in the mornig tempature. I really needed a jacket for walking the dogs this morning.

WE have packed up the room and will sleep one more night here. We have about 5 more large items to go down to the van. Jerry said didn't know we had so much room. Last time he thought it was packed full, but He didn't pack more than one layer high last time.. we are floor to ceiling this time. with room for the dogs to ride as well. I do hope that while we are there, to pick up our smallest artifical Christmas tree so that, no matter if we are in the camper or a motel room, we can have it. I don't think of much of what we have with us, will be left in MO this time.

For Today... October 9, 2009

For Today... October 9, 2009

Outside my window... The skys are laden with rain and we have had a few showers. At one time we were under a tornado watch and are still under a flood watch. The trees are still on the green side and I'm still waiting for fall to start.

I am thinking... I enjoy construction, but don't like it when we don't get a phone call. It is harder to find a job in Fall since most jobs are usually started in spring and ended finished in late fall. We can hope that a job will open up soon, And will enjoy some time with one of our children while we have some time off.

I am thankful for... Dog leads. Yes, dog leads. We can lower a few things from up here on the second floor down to the ground with a lead. We don't have enough boxes this time, so we are using plastic bags to pack up the smaller stuff and then lowering it over the side of the hand rail with a dog lead.

From the kitchen... Jerry made spegettie with Chili. We didn't want to go to the store and buy more to bring up when we are just going to have to carry it back down again. We have some things we can fix for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. Don't have any idea what dinner tomorrow will be.

I am wearing... Brown sweats and a top with small dark flowers on it. I also have on a bandana that we picked up when Jerry cashed his check.

I am hoping... That we only have to spend a week or so with Beth and get a phone call soon. As much as I love my children they are grown and need their space as much as I need mine.

I am hearing... USA, NCIS on the tv. and traffic outside on the road.

Around the house... Packing up and moving on. Jerry has been helping me get things out to the van and packing it up. He's been a real sweetheart and has also been helping me with walking the dogs as well.

One of my favorite things... Is having help with packing up. I'm sure I"ll be visiting the storage while we visit Beth and swaping out a few things. I am not giving up my sewing machine this time.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Packing up Saturday, Driving Sunday. Helping Beth out the rest of the week.

For Today... October 8, 2009

For Today... October 8, 2009

Outside my window... We are getting cloudy again. The temps are not too bad though. We are going to have more rain. Durning the day it cleared off but got a little windy as well. Now we have a cloud cover with a good chance of stroms this eveining.

I am thinking... The phone better ring, soon. And it better be for a job. Beth is having some trouble with the van. She didn't lisson to me, and now she's got to have it towed and repaired. <<< Beth got the van fixed. cost her around $300. She can make payments on the work. She is able to get to work, again. It's been rough on her. Rougher in that we can't help her at this time what with Jerry being laid off, we don't know when the next paycheck will be, we have to be careful with what we have left ourselfs.

I am thankful for... Cell phones, they keep us in touch with each other.

From the kitchen... Smoked sausage is for dinner tonight. Mashed potatoes (last of them ) and cut vegetables for dinner

I am wearing... brown sweat pants and a purple printed top

I am reading... a new craft booklet I picked up when I finally found some shoes I can just slip on to take the dogs out.

I am hoping... the phone rings soon and we have another job to go to, before Monday

I am creating... a mess. Yeah. I need to pack up everything and that makes it a mess before I get all done.

I am hearing... The View on the tv <<<< That was this morning, I now have the evening news on.

Around the house... Got to pack this all up. Jerry has to decide where we go, from here.

A few plans for the rest of the week... No plans, I am leaving the plans up to Jerry, for now.

For Today... October 8, 2009

For Today... October 7, 2009

Outside my window... The Sun is shining and the sky is blue with a few high bright white clouds.. The sky looks like it's been washed clean.

I am thinking... We have to go down soon. and straighten out the back of the van. Secure the tool box and then go pick up this weeks paycheck.

I am thankful for... Jerry making breakfast this morning for me. I was on the phone with Beth and he did the cooking. Jerry took the dogs down this morning as well. I love that he will do things like this and I don't have to ask him to.

From the kitchen... We will have hamburgers today. Not sure what will go with them. cut vegetables at least.. but I don't know what starch I'll have yet.

I am wearing... Maroon sweats and a light purple top wth Rellfoot Lakes Eagels Nest resort logo on it.

I am reading... 92 Pacific Boulevard, I got three more chapters read last night, while Jerry was on my computer looking up phone numbers.

I am hoping... That Jerry gets a phone call today so we can be on our way to the next job.

I am creating... Nothing right now.

I am hearing... Jerry snoring, The View on the tv and traffic out on the road. Ever now and then I hear a bird as well

Around the house... Not much will get done. Nothing but very basics get done when Jerry's not working. Just as I start something he'll want to go some where or want to do something.

One of my favorite things... Watching Jerry and the dogs sleeping, which they are all doing ,right this minute

A few plans for the rest of the week..

For Today... October 6, 2009

For Today... October 6, 2009

Outside my window... It's another grey, rainy day. Even opening the curtain did not brighten the room up much. It cool enough that I want sleeves on, today

I am thinking... I'm ready for all this rain to stop. I also think I need to start trying to walk a lot more or I'm going to not be much good with taking all this stuff out of this rrom when we are ready to go on down the road.

I am thankful for... My internet friends. They help me stay on track. That the wait for this job is over with. Although the stress changes now to, where do we go to from here. We know it will not be here, in a large city. It may be another large city, but it won't be here.

From the kitchen... I'll be cutting up Cucumbers, Radishes and Green peppers to go with the sliced tomato for our vegetbales for dinner tonight. I have some chicken Tenderloins to grill. I fixed more instant potatoes because I don't want to move an open box of potato flakes. It just ends up making a mess.

I am wearing... maroon sweatpants and a lighter purple top.

I am hoping... That the rain stops soon.

I am hearing... The tv is on, but I'm not paying attention to it. Traffic out on the road.

Around the house... the dishes are done, the bed is made and I've got two loads of laundry going. One in the dryer and one in the washer

One of my favorite things... is sleeping in. Beth did wake me this morning but that's ok, I needed up any way. Heather texted me, asking me to call her. She got a great report from Bailey's teacher and she's doing great in school. The teacher is considering putting her in the advance group because she's starting to read, now. Not bad at all for only 6 weeks of K.

A few plans for the rest of the week... finish laundry up. clean out the van and re-arrange it. pack up most of my summer clothes. I doubt I'll need more than one pair of shorts out after this week. Change of plans. clean the van, secure the tool box from rolling all over the back... and then take down everything we are not using and have not used in the last two week. Pre packing.

For Today... October 5, 2009

For Today... October 5, 2009

Outside my window... The skys are grey, but it's not raining. It could be very depressing if I allowed it to be. It is cooler and I needed a jacket to walk the dogs early this morning. I took a picture of the trees at the edge of the side yard. There is just a hint of color in them, now.

I am thinking... Learning this new photo imaging program is going to take me a lot of time. Well worth it. I will work on it each day for a while. Between that and sorting out some of the files I have will keep me plenty busy.

I am thankful for... Cooler weather. I can walk much more comfortable now. I took the dogs half way around the building this morning. I need to go walk again, I will wait until after I take the dogs down again. If they behave well, I may take them with me around the building as well.

From the kitchen... I'll be fixing hurgers for dinner. Jerry will get two and I'll have one. I'll fix some four cheese instant potatoes, cut up some fresh veggies and I may "splurge" and heat a can of vegetasbles as well.

I am wearing... Grey sweats and a light purple top.

I am reading... the user manual to my photo impact pro program amd still reading 92 Pacific Boulevard.

I am hoping... That Jerry knows for sure if this is the last week or not. That the box that Beth put in the mail comes in the mail tomorrow.

I am creating... new ideas of what to do with some graphics I have

I am hearing... The tv as background noise and traffic on the road. My other new program is The great Reeg " and I may start it for the ocean sounds it has on it, as well.

Around the house... I've cleaned the bathroom and kitchen area so far. mopped the bathroom floor and vacumned most of the kitchen floor, I just have a small area left in there, then I need to start in the bedroom area. I have the laundry sorted and ready to wash. I have at least 4 loads to do, this week.

One of my favorite things... Is learning new things.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Cleaning up the motel room. and if I get a chance, cleaning up the van as well.

I think one of the prompts should also be, In the yard... as I would have added cleaning the van or taking pictures of the fall folage to doing something in the yard.

For Today... October 4, 2009

For Today... October 4, 2009, My 53rd Birthday. (I love birthdays !)

Outside my window... The skys are leaking. Have been leaking all day long. Dreary grey, sleeping weather skys.

I am thinking... I love birthdays. Another year gone, but how many before me? Yes, I love the attention as well, but I love that we chose to celebrate our life with yearly milestones like this. Those who hate birthdays.. seem to forget that each year we are not only older, but wiser and more enriched by having earned another candle on the cake.

I am thankful for... Jerry taking today off to spend it with me. He did all the driving. We had lots of fun along the way. Breakfast, Playing slots at the Horseshoe casino, Lunch, Best buy for a computer program I wanted and even grocrey shopping. Just spending the day together was a treat. I do believe that if it hadn't been raining all day long, we would have gone and played a round of Putt Putt golf as well.

From the kitchen... No Cooking today. Jerry took me to Ryan's for breakfast and we had KFC for lunch. I love fried chicken. dinner was left overs for me and Jerry picked at stuff for his.

I am wearing... Brown sweat pants and a purple and white top. I had on a blue top, but when we stopped at the casino, Jerry asked if I wanted to change it, because it has some stains on it. I had to get in the back of the van to change it and just getting into the back was, interesting. I got up into it. I found my jacket while I was looking for a blouse. I knew I had a small bag of tops in the back, but forgot I had a jacket as well.

I am reading... the instruction book to my new computer program

I am hoping... That everyone else had a great day. That we find out where the next job may be, and that Jerry finds out for sure if we will be here until November or will we be gone soon.

I am creating... Nothing at this time.

I am hearing... fox news

Around the house... nothing got done except food shopping

One of my favorite things... Jerry, sleeping beside me.

A few plans for the rest of the week... I need to do laundry here at the motel this week. It's easy enough to do two loads a day. HOpe to find out if I need to sort and pack up Jerry's suitcase, I still havn't done that. I need to do some dog training sessions with both dogs while we are outside this week.
