Jack Pot !!!

Man.. did I have fun... I fixed us a good dinner. But we wanted dessert and I didn't make any tonight. So, since Jerry is looking for anti sway bars to pull the camper with, I suggested we try the auto place just down the road from us, and Walmart.

I sat in the van while he went in to the auto place.. looks like we are in for an adventure to find these things.  as well.

Next stop is Walmart... I never can seem to go in there and just pick up what I went in for... Jerry headed back to automotive and camping  It was a long shot and we knew it. Nope, no sway bars there.

I, on the other hand, didn't make it much past the front doors.  there were 5 carts with signs on the handles. all items. .50 .

And by the time I got to the last cart they were bringin out more stuff... and Jerry was coming down the front isle for me.  I ended up with over 40 items from the carts.  Beads, clasps, scrapbook stickers, calendars, doll kits, apron kits,  stencils, and Now I can't recall what else.. I was in pure bliss.  Oh yeah,, some ribbons.  I don't know why she put it all in 5 bags, I reduced it down to 3. now to find a place to keep it and keep the kittens out of it. THAT will be the challange.

Bits and pieces of things that I use for my own crafting at 50 cents. I just couldn't pass that up.

Hello .

Did you watch the president speak last night? We had him on, but I don't think either one of us really paid him much attention in the long run. Such a tv hound. I recall that networks would be all upset when Nixon would go over.. even more so when Clinton did as well. And bashed both Presidents Bush's when they didn't fill the whole time, yet it left the comentators just enough time to say what they thought about what was said. Guess any President can't win when it comes to prime time tv and speaches.

We rented some movies from blockbuster to watch this past weekend. We watched skyline (don't waste your money) it's a poor rip off of Distric 9 and V, more or less. We tried to watch Jonas Hex. but in order to hear the words we had to turn it up and I was getting a headache from the loud music, but we played it Sunday. Last night, we were going to watch "Beyond Sherwood". it just got to the point that I couldn't stand it. still in order to hear the words, we had to have it loud and the music was just blaring too loudly to even hear the words. I asked Jerry if he was really in to it and he said not really. I told him, I'll watch it on my laptop today. turn it off!!.. he put in Clash of the Titans and we could at least hear the words on that one. Discovered we had seen it befor. but we watched it anyway. This afternoon, I'll try watching "Beyond Sherwood ".

Outside my door ... Another cool, grey drab day. We may get some sun this afternoon but we are expected to get thunderstorms tonight.

The dogs ...  Are doing good. They got petted last night by a stranger. Macon  wanted all the attention and let Rocky know it. so we will have to work one on one with Macon for a bit. He has got to learn to not jump up on people.  Both are too large for that. They just love being loved up on by any one.

The Kittens ... I had thought of getting one of those cardboard rolled up things for the kittens to use to rake their claws across... Not going to happen.  I have a hole behind the John that leads to the access area for the water lines.  Smokey has figured out how to run back there when he "knows" I'm putting all kittens in Kitty jail. Well, I have an empty ramein noodle box (we buy by the box at Walmart) I tore it apart for the bottom to put over that hole to stop his excaping my reach. I needed some tape to tape that up with. So I start bringing boxes out of the cubbies over the beds to find my packing tape. Turn my back for one second and I have two kittens trying to tear my box apart. Chewing an clawing at it. Yikes. run off the miscreatents. recall that we have a large roll of duct tape . ah ha moment.  since I can't get the cardboard to fit "IN" the hole. I'll just tape the hole off with Duct tape.. run the kittens off my box, again. turn my back. tear off a strip of tape. place over the hole. Run Kitties off the box, again. Tear a piece of tape. cover more of the hole. run kittes off the box yet again. Yes.. every time I tore off a strip of tape and placed it where I wanted it, I had to turn around and run one or another kitty out of my boxes. bout wore me out just covering one little hole with tape. Now they are all back there stairing at the hole to see what did I do to it.  Oh. add to the antice, I had to do a head count twice, just to be sure all the kitties were on "This" side of the hole. The dogs. all this time. were laying on my bed, watching all the fun.

From the kitchen...

**Old Fashioned Meatloaf
Ingredients
Meatloaf
1 pound of ground beef
1-1/2 tablespoons dried, minced onion
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/8 cup oatmeal (quick)
1 small can vegetable juice (5.5 oz)
1 egg
Sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Prepare the sauce first by combining all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, oatmeal, onion, garlic salt and egg. Gradually add in vegetable juice. Start by adding half the can, and then decide if the consistency is moist and can be shaped easily. (If you have a bit more than one pound of hamburger, you may need more, if you have less than one pound, you may need less.)
Transfer meat mixture into your ungreased 9 x 3-inch loaf pan. (For a lower-fat version, try a meatloaf pan that includes a liner with holes to allow the grease to drain out of the main pan.) Shape slightly to ensure the meat sits evenly in the pan. Stir sauce and spread evenly over the top of the meat mixture.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for 30 to 45 minutes until the sides of the meatloaf are browned and slightly pulled away from the edges of the pan. Drain the meatloaf and/or transfer to a platter. Let cool slightly. Slice, serve and enjoy!

Somewhere close to this sign is a geocache.. But we havn't found it, Yet.

We had some weather last night. We had a lot of lighting and thunder last night. Our over night low so far is 44. it could drop another degree or two before daybreak. Our expected high is 64. I think it's going to be on the cool side all week from a different weather report I caught this mornig. I will be busy today cleaning up the camper.. the kittens have been very busy and there is ripped up paper in every room. I need to wash out both kennels today and do some hand washing as well.

I spent about an hour cleaning the van yesterday. I ended with three bags of trash. I sure hope that it smells better next time I get into it. Bad enough that Jerry smokes in the van, but add in the rest and P-U!

Outside my door ... What a night. We had some loud thunderstormes last night. Macon was up all night long I think. He's so wore out that he barely wanted to go to potty when we got up.

I have a camper full of love.. all 6 pets wants my attention. All 6 want to sleep in my bed, with out sharing it of course. Today the kitties are spending more time in Kitty jail than out. I took the two dogs for a walk and when we got back.. oh my.. the trash can had been tumbles (luckly it was almost empty) found the washclothes scattered on the floor and the bed was un-made. I was gone about 15 minutes, maybe. I am not even sure when I'll find time to craft this week because so much of my time seems to be spent cleaning up after the animals. But I love them. I am trying to find homes for a couple of the kittens before they get too much older.

The dogs ... Poor Rocky. Strips is really picking on him this morning. Rocky can't take two steps without strips being right under his feet. I took pity on Rocky and got him outside quicker than usual... he needed to go out any way but he was a bit reluctant about going back in the house and sure enough. Strips was right up under him again. Rocky was glade that I put all the kittens back into the kennel this morning.

The Kittens ... Are really picking on the dogs. They have tried jumping on the bed that Macon is asleep on but he's not moving. Rocky though, is being picked on by Strips and Strips is winning.

From the kitchen... I have a whole chicken that I bought that I want to bake. I think though, that I'll cut it in half and cut up the other half to fix later.

**

BUTTERMILK BAKED CHICKEN 1 frying chicken (about 3 lbs.), cut up 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 3/4 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4 c. butter 1 can cream of chicken soup Dip chicken in 1/2 cup buttermilk and roll in flour seasoned with the salt and pepper. Put butter in 13x9x2 inch baking pan and melt in hot oven (425 degrees). Put chicken in pan skin side down and bake 30 minutes. Turn and bake 15 minutes. Mix remaining buttermilk and the soup and pour around the chicken. Bake 15 minutes longer until tender.

I am hearing... I have the news on (5am)

I am wearing... I'm in my blue house dress (5am) after a shower this morning I'll put on some sweat pants and a warm top.. Today is going to be on the cool side.

(9am) I've changed into dark grey sweat pants and a black top.

I am reading... Today it will be emails and recipes. I'm so far behind in emails it's not even funny. I hate to just toss them as there may be information I want or need..

I am creating... a cleaner camper.

(noon) So far I have managed to wash out the kennels (both were gross) and cleaned up the bathroom. Washed and hung in the shower some hand wash, and swept the floor back there. The Kittens have all finally setteled down to sleep the rest of the day, I think.. they and the dogs will be "Up and at em" when Jerry gets home I expect. Like little kids, When Pops comes home they want to spend time with him. Ah, how I miss the days of having little kids in the home. How each evening, they would get all excited for Dad to come home. I don't know if it was because they missed him, of because they were allowed to raid his lunch box.

Oh Yucky

Man oh man.... now I went and did it.

Ever wonder how you get rid of the stuff in your camper.. you know .. the dish water and bath water and well.. the toilet water?  There is a hose that attaches to your camper that runs to a sewer drop.  The hose is large enough to handle must anything that you would dump in the house as well... the hose is flexable and lays on the ground or in a rack of sorts that helps it all go downhill.  Well.. Rocky keeps coming in "smelling" just a little.. Just enough to make me wonder what's stinking. and it's not all the time. Well, I have the dogs tied out today.. and the smell is getting worse.. I had to pull Rocky out from under the camper.. and he stinks again. So I go around the back of the camper and push a little on that sewer line.. it drips just a bit from the connection point (not suppose to do that)  so I nudge it a bit closer to the sewer drop point.. it's still full so I go around the end (it's on a bit of a still place that I don't want to slip on) and nudge it closer still to the sewer drop and it fell out,, and spewed nasty nasty "stuff" all over the ground, and, of course, some of that got on me as well... the line is blocked up, again. Oh yuck.. I had to come in rinse off my hands and arms..take off my shoes and change my pants cause it's all over them.

I called the office and someone will be here in a bit to help take care of the blockage. in the mean time. I can't do anything that takes water. No dishes, no shower (planned on that this afternoon) Not use the john. I closed the tanks off but they don't hold much... once they have the blockage opened up,, I hope they will rinse the area out.. I tried to take my waterhose off so I could do that and it's on too tight.. I hate it when a "Man" has to turn it just as tight as he can. I "Know" it needs to be tight,,, but that's just too tight for me be be able to take it off.

Sugar Spiced Walnuts

Sugar Spiced Walnuts
Yield: 6 Servings

Ingredients

4 c walnuts
1 c granulated white sugar
5 ts water
1 ts cinnamon
1 ts vanilla

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together and bring to a boil. Add
in walnut halves,
stir and spread out on wax paper to dry.

Yields 4 cups.

I've made these with walnuts, almonds, and blanched almonds. Blanched almonds is my favorite of the three. DH prefers the walnuts. I don't worry about walnut *halves*, just don't get "chopped walnuts".

I can't taste a difference with or without vanilla. Maybe I could with a side by side test....

For Today... March 23, 2011

Good Morning... (5am) I've been going back to bed not long after Jerry leaves for work and getting up between 7 and 8. I think, today, I'm going to stay up and see if I sleep any better tonight. I'm sleeping but I don't wak up rested.

Last night, we ate dinner outside.  I fixed potatoes in the crockpot. I put the steaming basket in poured in some water, then put two about the same size potatoes in it at 2 pm.. they were just rigth when we ate them at 5:30. I made up the salad early so all I had to do was cook the slice of ham after Jerry called me he was on his way home from work.  I bought a bag of peanuts and put them on the table as well as the fruit we picked up over the weekend. It was so nice to sit and enjoy dinner out with him.  I think we took almost an hour befor we went back inside. I hope to eat out at the table again tonight, but the weather man just said that we have a chance of rain this evening. I left my tablecloth out on the table overnight.  This thing is sooo old. I made it when we were in Commerce Georgia back in 1999. It's just a piece of denim, I put grommets in each corner so I could tye them and help it "form" to the table top and not blow away in the breeze. I've used this piece of material for several things. picnic ground cover. table cloth, blanket, and a tarp.  I keep thinking I need to pick up another large 2 yard piece just like this one is.
tonight, I think I'll make a crock pot meal. Of course we will have salad, and most likely the rest of our cut up fruit as we don't want it to go bad on us. I have a recipe for a hash brown casserole that I think I'll try in the crockpot. It don't have to be browned, just done. I'll post the recipe when I find it again. I think I know which file I put it in.
(9am)  It's cloudy and a bit grey. Looks like I better go get in my table cloth so it doesn't get soaked. back in a sec.
Just walked the dogs.. three units left while I was out. One was the lady who spoke french in the pop-up. I hope they had a great vacation.

My bed got wet and I'm not sure if it was kitty or dog. it was a big spot so I think it was kitty so I've proped it up, and have sprayed it with lysol and will do oder ban in a bit before I make my bed.

Outside my door ... (9am) grey and cloudy.. I thought we were going to be sunny today. I know the tempature is still nice and I'm in shorts again today. I pulled in my table cloth so it won't get soaked.

The dogs ... Did not get to spend as much time outside yesterday. Rocky just didn't want to behave and even spent some time in Doggy jail (same as kitty jail only in a different kennel) He followed me every time I get up, even if it's only three steps to the stove to get my coffee cup.

The Kittens ... Are back in Kitty jail for making my bed wet, getting into things they "know" I'm going to yell at them about and them just in general pushing the limits of my patence.

From the kitchen...
Cheesey Beefy Hashbrown Dinner
1/2 a bag of hashbrown potatoes
1 lb of Ground meat (beef or pork)
1/3 to 1/2 jar Cheese Whiz or shredded Velvetta cheese

Spray crockpot with none stick spray.
Place 1/2 a bag of hashbrown potatoes in a hot large skillet and brown, turn over.
Season and brown ground meat,
place 1/3rd of the potatoes in the crockpot, cover with 1/3 of the browned meat, the a large dollop of the cheese. repeat 2 more times.. ended with the Cheese on top. Put on a lid cook for a couple of hours, to melt the cheese and let it soak into the dish.

I am hearing... T.V., Birds outside, Rocky barking. People moving around. I think "The Kid" is moving out today.

I am wearing... Blue shorts, and my pooh top, (it has the same shade of blue in the background)

For Today... March 22, 2011

Good Morning... Yesterday went well. After dinner, I asked if Jerry wanted to go to Walmart. Sure, why not.  So we went and picked up a few things. I needed two tubs, and got them. One for laundry and one for blankets. I plan to take the blankets I have out of the one and put that tub back in the closet and I'll fill the other tub with Jerry's winter clothes.

The  dogs spent about 3 hours outside yesterday.  I forgot I had tied them out until one of them barked. They usually spend the day sleeping on the beds. Was so funny that they didn't bark until then.

The kittens each spent some alone time in kitty jail. Oops.. that kennel had to be washed out as well. So their time was also in a stinky kennel as well. (wondered what I was smelling every now and then)  They tore a huge hole in the shower curtain and I removed it. The smaller holes we could live with but not this huge hole in the middle. I didn't put up another curtain until it was time for Jerry to take his shower.. and I let him put it on the rod after I put all the rings on it.  I have it pushed to the side away from the counter right now. I may have to find a hair band to keep it tied up during the day.

I had to pick up some trash bags so I can keep the cat box clean.  I can use old plastic bags from the market but they don't keep the smell out as well. I also bought a box of larger bags so taking the trash to the  dump box can be done in one bag instead of two or three.

I found the cucumbers were under a dollar each and picked up two of them to add to our salad.  Jerry seems to think the salad is making his tummy upset. I think it could be any preservatives that are used to keep the cut vegetables from wilting after being cut. So I'm buying two heads of lettuce a week as well as the rest of the stuff to make a salad with. I have a few carrots already in the fridge, we picked up tomatoes this week but only two cucumbers. I refuse to pay $1.50 for a green pepper. There just is no reason for them to be that high and I don't know who is buying them at that price. I like a bit of celery but don't have any right now. I'll be glade when more of our salad stuff is not having to be shipped so far.
tonight's dessert will be cup up fruit. Kiwi and Strawberries for me, and watermelon for Jerry. I may add 1/2 a banana to mine.

Jerry looked for a blind for his side of the bed. I'm sure these blinds are as old as the camper and the strings are starting to break from rot. It doesn't help that the kittens want to get between the blinds and the windows to play with each other. he said he couldn't find the size for his window. I didn't go looking. I reminded him that there are two stores in this area.

Outside my door ... A few high clouds, a very warm premature today of around 80F and the rest of the week looks to be just as nice. I'll be opening up the door soon. We left the windows up all night.

The dogs ... Are comfortable. Rocky still wants to be very close to me, laying on me and pushing me as much as I'll let him. I put them outside on their lines and they stayed out about 3 hours. I had water out for them and they played for a bit, then laid down under the camper and went to sleep.

The Kittens ... are settling down for the day. still playing but not as rough as earlier. I think they are learning that rough play gets them put in the kennel again.

From the kitchen... I will fix Ham and home made mashed potatoes. Of course we will have a salad and fruit for dessert.

I am hearing... the TV and birds outside

I am wearing... today is going to be a shorts day, for sure. I'm still in my blue house dress right now, but in a few minutes, I'll change into shorts and a blue top.

For Today... March 17, 2011

Good Morning...
Happy Sait Patrick's Day to you. May your fields be green, your pocket hold a coin or two and may the sun always shine upon you.

I went back to bed after Jerry left for work this morning. I've just taken my shower (after walking the dogs) and as soon as I get dressed (sitting in my terry bathrobe right now) I'll be opening vents, windows and the door.

Jerry's next check is going to be a bit short. He's taking tomorrow off, so we can go get things tagged out in Tuscaloosa, and no one is working this weekend. Everyone wanted it off.

The dogs are healing up nicely.. for a bit yesterday I was worried about Rocky's site, but it looks great today and it may have been the light (lack of, rather) that made it look bad. Both are playing almost like before and Macon is back to rolling in the grass when he can get away with it.

The kittens are in full spring and jumping on each other from where ever they can.. high, low, from behind something.. out of the blue. I'll be happier when they wear themselfs out this morning and all fall asleep. Have had to yell at them a bit to get them to settle down and stop terrorizing the dogs, the blanket hanging in the doorway, and my feet. Once all the windows are open they should settle a bit as well, because the love looking out the windows. Macon has been used for a spring board several times this morning.

Today is payday and Jerry said we will eat out. I told him, good as long as it's not Ryan's. He agreed with me on that one. Of course I just got a new coupon to Ryan's.  It's good until the end of the month... hey though.. ther's a Ryan's in Tuscaloosa and we will need to eat lunch. I wonder if they will accpet it for the lunch meal. May find out.

Sure wish there was a Golden Corral around here. There is a Shoney's and Jerry likes there well enough. If he's not happy with whats on the buffet bar he can order a meal.

I'm going to put on brown sweat pants, a old t-shirt so I can get some cleaning done.. will change into a nicer top when we go out this evening.. and I'm wearing green(ish) earrings.

Yes, I wear green on St Patricks day. I always have, even without having kids at home any more. I can still recall my brother pinching me at the breakfast table for not wearing green when I first woke up on the day.

Outside my door ... Nice, nice, nice.. going to be in the low 70's and sunny today.. Plan on spending some time outside at the picnic table this afternoon. I'm never going to get all my emails caught up, but that's ok. I save them to read later.

I am hearing... Rachel Ray on the tv. and the fan on the heater.

For Today... March 15, 2011

The Ides of March. A good friend of mine was married on this day, long ago. I've lost touch with her over the years, though. I miss her.

Good Morning... Yeah, I'm late in writing this up, today. I went back to bed after seeing Jerry off to work and taking the dogs out to potty. My tummy is still not what it should be, but it's getting better. Jerry said he's is not so good either so maybe it's something we ate over the weekend. Who knows for sure, right?

It's going to be another cool, dark and dreary day. When we go out tomorrow it's going to look a whole lot different, that's for sure. Have you ever noticed that, in spring you have a few days that just drives you to stay inside and then, a nice great day to be outside and everything has changed? the leaves have popped out on the trees and the flowers are all in bloom and the birds are singing in all the trees and .. well, you get the idea.  It just takes those two to three days of not going out and looking around for things to happen.
I've already gotten half the camper straightened up for the day. Yesterday, I had to remake Jerry's bed three times from where the kittens played under the edges of his blankets that were hanging over the edge of his mattrise. his are lighter than mine are and they will also slid easier as well.  Today, I don't have them as far over the edge as they were yesterday. I put a small bowl of kitty food on the back counter for the kittens. yea, I had to put a couple in Kitty jail for a few minutes, but now they are figureing it out that they don't get treats for kitty jail. They are setteling down for the day now. and all will soon be fast asleep. later today, I have to rinse out both kennels.

I wanted to let you know, I made a compaint at our local Walmart this past weekend. With 4 kittens we go through a lot of kitty litter. I buy the large bucket of the stuff. I have a use for the buckets so I don't regret that at all.. but I can usually slide one off the middle shelf into my cart as it's the first thing I pick up. Well... this time no way !!! All of the 35 pound buckets were over my head, on the top shelf. I know these shelfs can hold a lot of weight but really.. are you sure it's rated for over 15 bukcets that each weight over 35 pounds.. and all over head, and all double stacked? I had to have help getting one off the shelf.  I said I wanted to make a compaint about it. and the gal who helped me said just one minutes and I'll get you someone.  And she did, he was walking past just as she was calling for him. He wanted me to tell him. I said, "No, follow me and I'll show you."  I took him the few steps over to the shelf and asked him "Just how stupid is this. to have all these buckets over head, double stacked for someone of my height of only 5ft 3 inches tall?  on the middle shelf were the lightweight single stacked cloth small pet carriers. Really !! either put the heavy stuff on the bottom or middle shelf, not over head. I'm not suppose to lift heavy stuff down from over my head and I'm sure a lot of other people are the same way. I said it's a safety issue as much as a convience issue. It's just pure stupid to have heavy stuff over 4 foot off the floor.
he and the man with him, said they'd look into it.  IF I find it still stacked on the top shelf like that. I'll shop elsewhere, even if its' going to cost me more, because that just shows they don't take safety serious enough.

Outside my door ... dark, drab and dreary. looks like rain but it's not raining. our high today is to be in the mid 50's and overnight low in the upper 30's.  I like tomorrow forcast much better. high in the mid to upper 60's, and only partly cloudy.

The dogs ...
Are healing well. Still a bit brused and sore but getting a bit more playful as well.. with the occasional "oops" look if they do too much. Macon is much more playful than Rocky even before and he wanted to play yesterday. Rocky came close to me, so I'd get Macon to leave him alone, then turned and tackled Macon.. not fair. so I let them have a few minutes of rough play, then called them both to heel. Just a burst of pent up energy. I hope to walk off any extra energy this afternoon with the dogs.
The Kittens ... are still trying to terrorize the camper. but not as much as they are realizing that it's not fun to be pent up all together in the kennel. They now have to sleep in it at night because they won't stay out of things.

My Pets are good for me.

My dogs make sure I get up and walk 4 to 5 times a day. Otherwise I would spend all my time sitting and messing around on the comptuer. I don't to anything special with the computer. I don't have a job, nor do I sell stuff from it. It's just a good toy for me.
the kittens make sure I bend over time and again.. straightening up rugs, or picking up things they have moved.

Kittens are so easy to entertaiin
A paper bag on the floor, A pinch of catnip.. will last for about 3 days before the bag is so far gone to hold any shape anymore.
A string tied to a door handle.  A while back I found a hay string while walking the dogs and, knowing what they do to mower blades, Picked it up. Brought in home and forgot I had it in my pocket.. until I started wearing that jacket again in the cold mornings. tossed it on the floor, and took the dogs out.. when I came back, the kittens had it in the kennel. which was ok. but the other day, I was cleaning and it was in my way. so I tied it the door handle and it's been there every since and the kittens play with it. In a way, it helps sharpen (or is that dull) their claws and I'll eleave it there until it's just a nub of string. I will pick up more of those hay strings next time I come across them while walking the dogs.  protects the mowers and gives me kitty toys.. a win win sistuation.

From the kitchen... I bought a small slice of ham this past weekend and I'm thinking of cutting it in half. It's more than enough for two servings. I think I'll also fix some rice with it. Of course we will have salad and I'm not sure on dessert yet. Maybe some sugar free pudding.

I am hearing... The View, on the tv. Man.. are they ripe today. Talking about the bad, horrible joke another comiedian said, Glenn Beck and now The Batchlor. I don't watch Batchlor, so I don't know what's happning on it. Don't care either as I find that to be gossip. Agree that the joke was in very bad taste, expecally if your from Japan. and wish I had seen that Glenn Beck show. to know just what it was he said and compare it what he was saying a couple of weeks ago.  I like watching Glenn Beck as I tend to talk back at him. Either agreeing or not to a point he's trying to make.

I am wearing... Dark grey sweatpants and a black top. Depressing.. maybe. Warm, yes.

I am reading... I'm up to chapter 13 in "the Greatest Knight". Not too thrilled with Chapter 12 but it wasn't too graphic in details. I was sad, to read about the baby though.

I am thinking... It's wrong to tell a bad joke about Japan, but it's also wrong to get fired for telling such a joke.. as much as it's wrong to protest at a funeral, but it's allowed anyway.. I'm seeing a law suit in the makings, I'm sure.

I am thankful for... The ability to say what I want when I want. But I'm also Thankful for the ability to know when it's appropeate to do so, and when it's not. I'm also thankful for the morals  that allow me to know that's it's just wrong to say things just cause I can, and not worry about how my words may hurt someone else at the time.

today's dessert

I wish I had my camera, I'd take pictures.. I forgot and left it in the van. and Jerry has the van today.

I know, I know... I'm not suppose to eat sweets. but I figure I can have one of these with dinner tonight.

My dear friend Vicki, from Missouri. She and I would get together every now and then for Chines dinner in Excelsior Springs Mo. The Peking is "THE" place for us. A small, hole in the wall, great place to meet and eat.

anyways.

She posted this in a recipe group we are both in. We are in several together, really.

take a sleeve of Ritz crackers. Spread peanut butter on 1/2 of them. Top with the rest of the crackers. Melt some Butterscoth chips (peanut butter and chocolate chips are good as well). Dip the crackers in the melted chips. Place on a plate. I put them in the fridge to get solid.   Oops.. some water splashed into the chips, and like the "good" stuff,, it seized on me. I lumped it on top of the crackers, I can hope it's still good and next time. I'll put less water in the pan I use to warm the ramakin the chips are in.

For Today...March 14, 2011.

For Today...March 14, 2011.
a long weekend of watching what's been happening in Japan.

Good Morning... I hope you are feeling well this fine, late winter morning. I have the door open and it's pleasent outside if a bit gray. One of the kittens is in the back, looking out the window and I wish I had my camera to take the picture. The dogs are still a bit sore and still taking it easy. giving them their pills is easy enough. Go buy a couple of packets of beef or turkey bites. take a knife and make a hole in the end by pushing in the knife and turning it a little bit. push pill into the bite then give to dog. Rocky chews a bit, Macon seems to swallow whole. either way, they get their pill and is a happy dog for the treat as well. Excuse me a few minutes....

Back. Kittens are in kitty jail. one got above Jerry's bed and was tossing stuff to the floor. One gets in trouble, all go to "Jail". That way I know I got the right one. Have to watch this though. Because the kittens think if they do this sort of stuff, they will get treated with some kitty food in the kennel. Don't want them to think they get rewarded for their bad behavior.
Oh.. a funny or strange thing.. one, at least, has figured out to pee in the empty food dish rather than on the kennel floor.  Now, if all of them will do this, I could teach them to go potty in the john. that would sure save us both some headaches.

While I was up, putting the kitties in "Jail" I cleaned the bathroom. It doesn't take long to do that, really.Put the shower mat over the side of the tub. Spray the shower walls, wipe out the sink, wipe off the counter top and clean the john. straightened out the rug (again) and put a fresh hand towel on the counter by the sink. While I was back there, I put some catnip seeds in a pot of soil I have back there. Lets see how long this lasts. I will put more seeds in it, in a week.

On the way back through, I made the beds. All that is left is making dessert, cleaning the kitchen and living room. there is a craft I need to make this week but don't know if I'll get to it this week or not.

For Today... March 12, 2011

Good Morning... Good morning and Hello.
Jerry has to work today and not sure about tomorrow.  The weather is delitful and I have windows and the door open before 10am. The kittens are looking outside. Planning their excape, I'm sure. yesterday, I worked on a project that I think Jerry didn't think I would be able to finish (like so many projects I do) We have a small bookcase (no better word for it) by the door. Tupelo just will not leave my books on the middle shelf alone. She is consistantly scratching at the notebooks there. I did some measuring and found out a 2 by 2 piece of wood would fit inside and I know Lowe's sells smaller panels of that size, or close to it anyway. I got the wood on Wendsday Evening, but didn't work on it Thursday. Thursday was just an "Off" day for me. Friday I deep cleaned the bathroom, clearing off all the cubby holes and shelfs and scrubbing them clean then putting things back in place. Barely got the beds made around the dogs and kittens, and the dishes. but since I was on a roll. started on that bookcase. I had to empty a tub to put all the stuff from the shelf in, in case I ran into trouble. Pulled it away from the wall. I forgot we had the wires for the speakers in it. I was still able to move it far enough from the wall to work on it. tried my piece of wood in it. Took out my measure tape and divied the panel in 1/2 and used the jig saw to cut it, just off center.  First I had to take the board and jig saw outside, unplug the heat tape on the water line, carry the end around the side of the camper so it will reach. plug in the jig saw and with a couple of false starts and having to re-adjust how I was holding the board, cut it apart. Then, I unplugged the jig saw, carried the plug around back to the back, and plugged in the heat tape again. Not that I think we will need it again. but it's only March and still winter. I then took the boards back in and tried then in the hole... oops.. there are two small blocks of wood at the top, inside in the way. Hum.. I tried to mark the wood and my pen ran out of ink. what wait. tried it again. tried to mark it with a different pen.. I still couldn't see the mark.. well no wonder. it's very close to the top. Maybe a 1/2 inch, if that much. so out side again. unplug the water line heat tape, again. plug in the jig saw and cut off the two narrow edges so both pieces will fit. unplug the jig saw, again. plug in the heat tape, again, and then carry in the boards, again. Perfect fit. I moved the middle shelf up a peg and have my books on the bottom shelf now. and the doors work just great in keeping the kittens out of all of it.

Jerry called me when he got off work, and said he had to make a stop. when I mentined I needed to go to the store, we change our dinner plans. We ended up driving all around before going back to the Shoney's. but first the driving around bit.
The engin light came one and didn't go off. but Jerry didn't know why. sone once he picked me and the dogs up. we stopped at Auto Zone for a free check up. the thing said EVOP. I wrote it down. She suggested we take it to a shop to find out just what that meant. We "know" ther's a Chevy place somewhere in town, but can't recall just where. We "Knew" we had seen it on Glosser, but which side?  I told Jerry, I think it's over near the clinic I had taken all the animals too. and sure enough that's where it was. Jerry went inside and of course the shop is now closed until Moday. But the elder showroom man told Jerry it may just be a loose gas cap as the whole thing is now working on a vacum system. I expected Jerry to check the gas cap.. he finally did, this morning. He said it was loose. I tolk he we have better keep a sharper eye on the gas gauge as well. with the price of gas so high, there;s bound to be people stealing it from other tanks. Once the dogs are all healed up. Macon may be spending a few nights in the van, as he's more likely to bark.
We were a bit disappointed in Ryan's the night before. We paid more and nothing seems to have changed in what they offer. Matter of fact, seems like there's less on the hot tables.
Shone's is serving Seafood. We have been looking for a seafood place. I had my fill of shrimp and Jerry got the flounder platter as well as the all you can eat salad bar. yummy for both of us. I think we may be going there for a while, for our Friday night Dinners.

Outside my door ... Nice, nice. nice.. the kind of weather I love. Not to hot, not to cold. The sun is out and it's very pleasent outside. I'm a bit crowded on the couch right now.

The dogs ... str on the couch beside me. watching the men working on the hole in the driveway that they started diggin a couple of days ago. oophing and moofing at them. Not quiet a bark, but almost.. no growling. Just letting them know "we" are watching you.

The Kittens ... are all along the back of the couch as well, watching what's going on, the running to the back of the camper, and up on to the counter to check outside for any birds.

For Today... March 10, 2011

Good Morning... Yesterday was a busy, busy day for me. I did sneak in a mid morning nap. It was get up at 4, make Jerry's breakfast, ride with him to work so I could have the van for the day. back home, walk the dogs, take my meds and get breakfast in me. run the dogs to the spay and nuture clinic, go back home, sort laundry, load into the van, (nap) go wash laundry, bring it home and put away. leave to pick up Jerry.
This morning was almost the same thing. Get up at 4 am. make Jerry's breakfast, ride with him to work so I can have the van for the day. Instead of coming home though, It wa go park in front of the clinic so I could pick up the dogs. I could hear Macon while I was sitting in the van when the first nurse showed up. He got louder when the second one showed up. I got good praise reports on their behavoir though. Both were a bit surprised at just how friendly they both are. Although it did surprise them thay Rocky was growling while being petted.. He just wanted out of that kennel, is all. They both were soo happy to see me. Macon wanted to ride up front with Rocky but there just isn't enough room. He whined and cryed 2/3rds of the way home.  I got them home, put their meds in a tablespoon of peanut butter, then put their food down. took them out twice. once to pee and once to poop.  Now they are both asleep in their kennels, away from the kittens. Each kitten has come and looked in on both dogs.

Outside my door ... it''s dreary and gray and looks like we may get some rain this morning. the weather forcast calls for clearing sky's and some sunshine this afternoon. Be nice to walk in, if it happens.

The dogs ... are recovering from surgury and doing well

The Kittens ... are all sitting on the counter in the back, looking out the window. I've not had to yell at them to get out of stuff this morning. they've had their fun of jumping bed to bed. I did have to yell at them to get out of the cubby over Jerry's bed but they were quick to get out and have stopped trying to get up there, for now at least. Jerry noticed this morning just how much weight Smokey has put on in the last couple of weeks. Yep, they are still growing kitties.

From the kitchen... Eating out again tonight. we saw a Western sizzilin Steakhouse when we were in New Albany last weekend and I think Jerry wants to go there.

I am hearing... my phone beeping at me. letting me know I have a new email. and a bird singing somewheres outside.. the tv just went blank on me. I'll have to send this good morning note once the wifi is also back on.

I am wearing... black sweat pants and my light blue flowered top.

Good Morning, everyone

Good Morning... First off, Praying for all those along the Pacific rim.
That is very scary to me. To have that much water heading toward me.
I've cleaned out the cubby above the toliet, and wiped the blind slats. I'm donig a more than just picking up cleaning today. I feel like Spring cleaning !!

Jerry got the water fixed when we got home last night.
He was so disappointed with Ryan's last night. They have raised their prices but didn't have much on their food bars. The salad didn't look all that good, and I found several pieces of green pepper with bruises on them in the container. Jerry didn't get any salad at all, and I fixed a small one for me. He ate a huge helping of mac and cheese, but he didn't much care for the meats they had out. He ended up with putting some of their taco meat on top of mashed potatoes. I'm sure we will be finding a new place to eat. We were going to eat at Western Sizziling, they are closed for remodeling. Drats!
The dogs are doing well. sleeping lots, which I expected. Giving them their meds is intresting. They were very leary of taking the peanut butter I put their pills in yesterday.. so I'm figuring they were fed peanut butter laced with their sleep meds at the clinic. We were at Walmart so I picked up beef bites and turkey bites to slip their meds into. that worked out well last night.

The kitten are already in kitty jail, this morning. I caught two of them on the kitchen counter.
We have sun. It's peaking in through my windows now. Our high is to be in the lower 60's today, so I'm sure I'll be able to open windows and the door this afternoon.

Dinner will be Salad, fish portions, alfredo noodles and I don't know what else, just yet. I'll fix something for dessert this afternoon.
Outside my door ... I can hear a few birds singing their morning wake up songs. The sun is just above the horizone and turning every thing golden with the morning light.
The dogs ... are sleeping. They went out when Jerry left for work, came in, grumped at the kittens jumping from bed to bed, then went to sleep.
The Kittens ... are in Kitty jail. I have to be careful that they don't always get a treat to intice them into the kitty jail or they will constantly been getting in trouble, just for the small amount of cat food I toss into the kennel to get them to go in.
From the kitchen... Hum. good question. Fish for dinner, alfredo noodles, Salad. not sure of dessert yet.
I am hearing... Morning news. We don't have our local channels yet. The cable was out most of the day, yesterday. We are getting Memphis news, though, and a few other channels.
I am wearing... my blue house dress, going to put on black sweat pants and a tshirt before I walk the dogs again.
I am reading... emails. I have over 600 of them. I'll read 5, then go do "something" then come and read 5 more.
I am thinking... If Jerry works this weekend, we will use that extra to go to Tuscaloosa in a couple of weeks to renew the tags, and pick up the stuff in storage. Need to call around and find a good storage unit here in Tupelo. need to be cheaper than what we pay there. I would love to find a good enclosed utility trailer to pull behind the car, next time we have to move.
I am thankful for... Knowing where all my family is, today. My younger brother was stationed in Okinawa (sp) when he was in the air force. I don't know if he kept up with any one he knew there, or not. Just praying that everyone is okkk and away from the raising waters.

Good Morning

Good Morning.  It's been half a day and it's not even 9 am yet.

Got up at 4
got dressed
made Jerry's breakfast
went with him to work so I could have the van today
back home. long enough for me to..
walk the dogs,
take my insulin and get breakfast
back in the van
take the dogs to the spay and nurture  clinic
had to wait for those being picked up to be taken out
had to weigh Rocky to see if he is above or below 30 pounds.
he's a hefty 42 pounds.
paid the $200. for both dogs to be fixed, meds and rabies shots.
I go to pick them up tomorrow morning at 7:30.  found out don't stress if unless it's as late as 9.. but I'll try to be first.

Rocky was scared so I stayed back with him a few minutes. he settled down for a bit. Macon was fine the whole time. Usually it's Macon with seperation issues.

Back to the camper. scoop the cat box. let the cat's out of the kennel.

sorted the last of the laundry
pick up all the blankets spray both mattresses with oder ban.

The kittens know there's something up with the dogs.. they have gone looking for them, jumping up on the beds and looking behind the mattresses and then come and look at me as if to say.."Ok where'd you hide them?"

March 8, 2011

I already wrote once, and lost it. so I'm trying agian.

It's now raining. We need it. I hope it will wash away the sewer smell outside. The blockage was found and broken up, not far up the line. but the mess is still outside. For a while there, I was hoping we could shower up in the shower house. I can take a 10 minute shower here, If I turn off the water while I soap up.  Takes more time if I'm washing my hair. and it can get a bit chilly even if I have the heater turned on.

The kittens are really trying their best to get in trouble. last night. one of them got into the cupboard over the fridge just after we had turned off the lights. Jerry looked for what being chewed on and never saw what it was. Never did find out what the kitten was chewing on.
They are still trying it this morning. running, jumping, getting into things they don't belong in and know it. scattering stuff,
I've had to put the rugs back in place, three times each.

the dogs, on the other hand, have been very good. With the men outside the side of the camper for so long they didn't go off barking and all. Jerry may not have noticed that, but I did. a vast improvment over all.  We took our morning walk to the back of the office and although there was some pulling it was to hurry me up (MOM, I gotta GO !!) and once that was out of the way were very good on our way back to the camper.
I brought out some boneless pork chops for dinner. they were on sale. I'll fix noodles to go with them, tonight. Salad and I still want to make a cake. I asked Jerry if he wanted pancakes for Fat Tuesday and he said no, just his regular breakfast. I think I may make pancakes for dinner instead. I make fix some biscuits as well. for dessert we will have fresh fruit that we bought Sunday. We need to eat it before it goes bad.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to post a Good Morning message tomorrow or not.
Got to take Jerry to work so I can have the van so I can take the dogs to get them "fixed". while they are there, I'll find a laundry mat and do the laundry. then have to make a mad dash out to the job after picking up the dogs. Jerry gets off at the same time the dogs are released from the office. No place for him to be out of the weather and we may have rain tomorrow evening. We will eat out. I'll try to check my emails with my phone while I'm out and about. May take my lap top with me to the laundry so I can check emails then as well.

For Today... Mar 7, 2011

Good Morning... Well. we went to bed early, because we had to get up early this morning.
Jerry left here around 4:30 to be at the new job site before 6am. As soon as he left, I took the dogs out for a quick potty break. I had let the kittens out before Jerry left for work and not soon after he left, I had to put them back in the kennel.. they were going wild. Soon they will learn that the wilder they get, the faster they are put back into the kennel. here it is, just a bit after 7am, and they are out again and already pushing the buttons.

Going to use the roll of hamburger for dinner. Not sure just what yet.
I want to bake a cake today.. maybe two smaller cakes and do one up in Mardi Gras colors, just cause I can.

Outside my door ...  Started off very cloudy. very dark, as the day has gone on, it's gotten lighter but I still need a light jacket in order to be comfortable while walking the dogs. It's still gray out and I'm not sure if we will see the sun today or not.

The dogs ... Are ready for the kittens to go back to kitty jail. Jumping over Macon, and usually missing.. swatting at Rockys nose so much that he has it covered under the edge of the blankets.

The Kittens ... are really pushing it this morning.  Man o man.
one of them jumped at the curtain that hides the cubby above my bed and ended knocking it and a shower curtain pole down. Noisy !! and then all 4 scattered to what ever hiding holes they could find.
Before that, one of the kittens came running in here, with something in it's mouth.. played with it a bit, picked it up and dropped it into the water dish.. I had to get up and find out what it was.. the stopper to the bathroom sink. I put it back into the bathroom, and not 4 minutes later Smokey brought it back into the living room.

I've pulled three dog food nuggets out of my shoes this morning. and picked up my shoes out of the floor because the kittens will not leave them alone.

From the kitchen... I have hamburger thawed. not sure just what I want to make with it. something with some spice and flavor to it.

I am hearing... Y&R.

I am wearing... maroon sweat pants and a light purple top.

I am reading... emails and recipes

A few plans for the rest of the week...
taking the dogs to be fixed mid week, will do laundry then.
look up more geocaches in New Albany
bake a cake for dessert.
