Proud Grand Ma time

I'm A Proud Grandma... Yes I am. Sunday Morning, I recieved a Text from Beth around 3 am saying that she was in the Hospital about to have her Baby.. I got another text a couple of hours later, Saying that the Baby is here. I didn't sleep a wink between the two text messages. If there was a way to have gotten there, I would have used it, No matter what the costs. But since I couldn't be there, I was praying for her and her baby and every one who was waiting with us for the baby to get here.

May I Present to you pictures of Heather Lynn Crossman (the 2nd) Named after her Aunt Heather.

Oh.... I just can't wait to go hold and start the spoiling.

I even have a t-shirt for picture taking. New Grandma, 2011.

September 22, 2011

Good Morning... Today is the last offical day of the Summer of 2011.
I'm staying up today. And if I still feel better than I did yesterday, Will work harder at staying up each morning. So far, so good. Although I have to admit. Coffee really helps and in mid summer it's just too hot to have hot coffee around much.  Momma D mowed  in our area yesterday. She has a system but I'm not sure just what it is. But the people here are very good at keeping the grass mowed in most of the areas. Yesterday was so dark and gray all day long that today's sunshine is a blessing. It's so nice and bright outside now. while I was walking the dogs I was able to "see" the spider webs in the trees. Luckly none are where I walk at. Our high today is suppose to be around 80. It it's anything like yesterday, I'll have to close all the vents and windows and turn on the air for a bit this afternoon. (yucky). One nice thing about staying up is I get most of the daily chores down before 8 am. The beds made, the bathroom gone over, and the dishes done. I took the dogs out for a "P" walk at 4:30. I almost forgot about it. Luckly I noticed that Tom wasn't making much noise yet so was able to get my two out and back in before he had to walk his two. About 8:30, the new people who came in yesterday were out walking a large, black dog. On a nice long leash.  I love it when I see other's using a leash. I will admit that this morning I tried something a bit different with our dogs. I tied the ends of the leashes together while we were at the very back field and let them go. Macon is very good at coming when I call him and he's stronger than Rocky. Although I didn't have to call them, it's nice to know that it will work to give them a bit more freedom when we are in the very back, as long as I'm watching out for other dogs while we are there.  They enjoyed the added controled freedom this morning. It isn't something we will do each time we are out, though.
The cats are having fun running close to me then dashing back to the bathroom as I'm squirting them with water.. Oh wait. two just got put into a kennel. One went in on her own and Stripes is in trouble with me. I have a box on me bed and another folded up piece of cardboard on top of that and he just pushed off the cardboard to see what's in the box. It's the material I bought to make baby dresses with. I forgot to see what size battries I'll need but I can pin and cut out today, and when Jerry calls, on his way home, I can ask him to pick up battries.
I took Chicken out of the freezer as well as pork chops for tomorrow's meal. which ever one is thawed is the one I'll fix tonight. But I'm fairly sure it's going to be the chicken strips. I crush up some crackers, add some seasonings to them, and roll the chicken in the crackers before putting in the oven to bake. If I have to use the air though, I'll use a little oil in the skillet and just pan fry instead.
There are now three cats in the kennel. Tupelo was on the bathroom counter (she's allowed there) and pushed the bottle of bleach I have on the back of it, into the sink. The only cat not in trouble right now, is Smokey and he's usuall the first in trouble.
I'm not sure what I'm going to have as our starch for dinner yet. I should do rice, but Jerry is not a great fan of rice each week. I'm tired of noodles and we had Cheesy Burger noodles yesterday. I could just make mashed potatoes I guess. it will all depend on how hot it is, when I start cookin dinner.
I have the t.v. on, as usual. Rachel Ray is on. It never dawned on me that the Donny Walburg was the same Donny from New Kids on the Block. Duh.  Heather about drove me nuts with the NKOB music when they were the Teen Idols along with Back Street Boys, and of course have to toss in Boyz to Men.  I do like his acting though. But he sure don't like much like the kid he was back then. What I mean is, I recall the kid but not the face and that's, um...over 15 years ago.
Today is another shorts day. It was very comfortable walking in the back in shorts, I don't like spider webs in my face but I never notice them on my legs.. I wonder why that is. I mean I've never  really notice spider webs closer to the ground, just those up at face level.
Since I have the "housework" done already, I plan on starting the baby dresses this afternoon. I also need to go another round on the baby blanket I'm making for Beth's baby.
Tomorrow morning, I'm planning on doing the laundry over at the laundry room. It's also the shower house. With 4 washers and 4 dryers it shouldn't take too long to get done.  Well, it does take a half hour to wash and the dryers run for one hour on four quarters. As long as I don't over-load the dryers, every thing will get dry.

September 21, 2011

Good Morning, and HellO.... yesterday, I wrote a "hello" note and the "o" got dropped... Yikes that was embarrasing.  I stayed up all day yesterday.. Today, I went back to bed and I'm still dragging. I'm going to try staying up again tomorrow and if I feel better with staying up, will just have to force myself to stay up and not be tempted to go back to that bed. Part of the reason I felt like going back to bed is because it was still cloudy this morning and so dark and gray. We still have a few clouds but not as dark as it was at 7am.  I have noticed that most of the trees have lost a lot of leafs even before they change color. A few trees have a hint of yellow to them, but the slightest bit of wind and those are off the trees. I'm still waiting for the reds and orange ones to show up. There is a purple flowered weed (not the typical thistle) that I want to take a close up of. I see it on the side of the road while we are driving to town but I don't see it around here.  I see Golden Rod and a tall, white, small flowered weed, And a passion flower but haven't seen that purple one here in the R.V. Park.  I think it's time I take another walk down the road by the lake and see if I can find something "new" down that way.
Yesterday, while I was walking the dogs in the afternoon. I saw a snake. It was slithering off around a tree as we walked up to the trail that is on the boundry between the R.V. Park and the Wild life area.  What I saw was a dull grey. Neither dog saw it at all.  I think it was just trying to sun itself when we came along.  I saw a deer last week and the dogs missed that, as well. They were with me, just didn't see it.
This morning, I don't know what going on with Rocky. He wants to pull and go any where but where I want him to go. He was just totally pushing the buttons on this mornings walk. It's not like there was something I could see in the direction he was trying to pull to, either. No cat or dor or person.
The cats want to look out the door today. One is totally soaked from the squirt bottle and still is back, looking out the door. I let them look out the back window but I don't want them in the doorway cause they don't want to move off when I want to go through the door. If I know I'm going to be out a while, I put all four back into a kennel so I don't have to fight them to come back into the house. it's not really a fight, I just spray some mouthwash though the screen and they all high-tail it to the back. They hate the smell of the mouthwash I have now.
I have hamburger thawed in the fridge. So I'm going to fix that for dinner. not sure, but I'm thinking of using a boxed mix for the skillet. We will have salad and I'm thinking of adding apple to the salad to have a change in it. In a bit, I'm going to bake a white cake for dessert. We found some sugar free frosting at the store and I'll use 1/2 a tub of that to frost the cake.
I was hearing the birds singing earlyer but they have all stopped or moved off. I have "The View" on right now. It's noise.
Today is another shorts day since our high is going to be around 80.  But it's very humid today as well. It's one of those days that you just wish it would rain and get it over with instead of the humidy hanging in the air almost high enough to see.
I am reading... emails and still working on Eragon.
I am creating...  I did work on the baby blanket yesterday. I need to work on it again today. I also want to start on a baby dress. I forgot to get out the sewin machine and see what size batteries it takes. Jerry did take back the router, but forgot that I asked him to pick up a Crockpot. That's ok. I'll pick one up this weekend. We got a set of the "Eggies" this past week. and I did use it.  you don't have to peel the shell off the eggs. and you can season them before you put the eggs in. but you have to oil the plastic before you put the egg in each one. not a lot of oil, but a touch or it will stick to the plastic. The best part though, is you don't have to peel off that thin innner coating when you cook them this way and although they have a flat top, they do come out of the plastic easier than from the shells.
A few plans for the rest of the week... Friday, I'm going to do the laundry here at the R.V. parks laundry room, in the morning.I should have three loads by then, and I can do the sheets off the beds when I do that. Although the dryers are not the best, they do the job. If the jeans don't get dry, I'll just put them on hangers and hang them over my bed.

September 20

Good Morning, and Hello.  Jerry got rained out yesterday and we spent most of the time just hanging out together. I was asleep when he got back home and he let me sleep until 9 am. I don't usually go back to bed in the mornings, unitl after Tom, next door, leaves for work. I know my dogs are going to bark while he's taking his dogs out and getting his truck warmed up to go to work so no sense in going back until he's gone.
We have been wanting to try Hugh's net. We stopped where he ordered up our satilight dish and asked about the details of Hugh's next.  For under $50 a month we could lease a dish and have it set in the yard and have a good amount of downloads. I can't remember the amount but it's a lot. We had it all set up, went to Wal-Mart to put money on the card and pick up a wifi router and then back to the campground since we couldn't get ahold of the owners while we were out, to ask if we could have a pole set in the ground.. Um. no. rather not.  Ok. So Jerry called back and explained that the land lord said no. He'll take the router back this evening after work, and pick up a crock pot (if he remembers)  The one I want is just a bit over $20. I want/ need the middle sized one. The smaller crock isn't large enough for the two of us. I like to bake potatoes in a crock pot and the smaller one is not large enough to do that.
We Just sat around all afternoon, until I got so sleepy that I went back to bed. It seems that all I did yesterday was sleep. Jerry woke me up about 6pm.  We decided to go out to eat. We went to Bubba's. We both had the double cheese burger, I had the salad as a side and Jerry had tots. We ordered the mega cheese fries and the Pepper and Ranch dressing were suppose to be on the side. they were on the fries and Jerry did not want them like that. I told the gal to just have a 1/2 order made with just the cheese for him and be sure we got billed cause I was going to take the part I didn't eat, home with me and have them for lunch today. That and a piece of chicken left over from a couple of nights ago will make me a full lunch.
We forgot about Dancing with the stars. To be honest, I don't think Jerry wants to watch it this year anyway. We ended up watching Antuqies Road show. We both like that show.
I discovered that the Clarkesville Wal-Mart has brought back the Fabric Department.  Wow and Whoopie !!  I bought two patterns and enough fabric to make 4 baby dresses and a pair of scrub pants for me. I'll have to sew by hand. I just want to see if I can make a pair of pants that are comfortable for me. As much as I like the comfort of mens sweat pants, there are times I want something a bit different, or more colorful. The material I picked out is lots of flowers and I got enough to make Baby Heather a dress from that as well as a purple plaid and a purple cloud like materail for a baby dress and rompers. I have a small sewing machine with me but dont' have the power cord. I may see what size battries it takes and ask Jerry to pick up a charger and battres instead and use that for the long seams. I still need to finish up the blanket I'm making, as well.  Friday is Beth's birthday and I put a card in the mail to her, this morning while I took the dogs out for their second time out, first walk. First time out was just a "P" outing behind the camper. Bet that drove Tom's dogs crazy for a few mintues covering where my two had been.
It's really cloudy out and I've half expected Jerry to call and say he's been rained out again today. But then again. He's asked to take the Test again and hopefully he's doing that today. it would mean a raise in pay and in the per diem. When I looked out at 8 am, I thought it was just past 6 am.. it's that dark. It was drizzling when I walked the dogs, not that I noticed that much since I had wet hair from taking a shower this morning. I really need to get a hair dryer this year, before it get too cold.
The cats are doing well. They continue to tease the dogs. Stripes and Fuzzybutt like to walk right by Rocky when he's walking and try to rub under his chin, while he's walking. I've caught both giving him a massage if they are in the kennel with him. And he loves that from them. We have "Hunters".. bug hunters that is.. I've found at least 4 dead large roaches  from where the cats have killed them.  I think the roaches are coming into my camper in the pet food we buy. If I can prove it, I'm going to talk to Dollar General about it. These are the large, German Roaches. I'm going to have to put bait down for them. I first have to be sure that if the roaches eat the bait then the cats catch a roach that it won't hurt my cats.
Today, I'm fixing boneless pork chops. I'm going to maranate in some Oil Based salad dressing. I'm going to "doctor" the dressing with a bit more garlic and onion this time.  if the weather clears off, I'll cook outside, if not then I'll have to find a place for the table top oven and bake them inside.
I have the T.V. on and Rachel Ray is on. President Carter is on, today. I am glade to see that school lunches are being improved but I'm afraid that my own Grandkids will not eat most of what is served. They both just don't want to eat vegetables. I have the door open and, at times, I can hear the birds outside, singing. Every once in a while I can hear either ducks or geese that are near the lake. And with that, come a shot gun as well. Not sure if they are really getting the fowl, or just trying to get them.
Today, I'm wearing shorts, Our temparture is to be around 73 today and that's warm enough. soon enough I'll not be able to be in shorts and will have to find a place to store them. I tried in the space behind the drawers last years and was not happy with that. it's not a lot of space, but When I pulled the clothes out they had a smell to them and I'm afraid they may mold if they get damp back there. The only bad thing about living full time in a camper is the lack of long term storage space.
I'm still reading Eragon. Tom saw I was reading it, the other day and we stood talking about Sci Fi books when he should have been walking his dogs. Bob, from the other end, came up and asked if Tom had walked his dogs yet so Bob and his family could take their dogs out. Ooops.  I did tell Bob that I try to walk my dogs before Tom and all the other's who work get home so that we don't have any conflicts. He seems happy with that. I did also explain that I do have to take my dogs out between 8 and 9 at night for their last walk so we don't have to go out too early in the morning. Jerry is the first out of here, He likes parking close to the door and would rather miss an hours worth of sleep to get that closer parking space. he goes to bed between 8 and 9 most the time, now. Where I still like to stay up until the weather has been on the nigh time news.
I've got to clean up the camper today, It's not a mess but if I let it go much longer, it will be. So, I'll be reading emails off and on as I get the camper done. Next to do, is make the beds. I got the dishes done already.
One of my favorite things... A cup of coffee in the morning.

A few plans for the rest of the week... keeping the camper clean, a bit of laundry and sewing up baby dresses.

For Today... Sept 14, 2011

Good Afternoon. It's nice and quiet here, for the most part. Some times I hear a dog bark, or a siren, or someone driving past on the road, but for the most part, quiet.

Outside my door ... We have been having clouds building up all day long.  We have a good chance of rain this late afternoon and night. I love it cause that will break the heat, again. I've had enough of the 80's, thank you. I'm ready for at least 4 weeks of 70's. May not get 4 weeks but I would love it.

The Dogs ...  Have been barking at any noise they hear, since I opened up the doors and windows. Which sets off the dogs next door, as well.  Good thing I'm just about the only one here during the day. I need to take the dogs out soon as I send this out, so I better hurry or we wlll be getting wet.

The Cats ...  Have setteled down. No longer running and jumping "ON" me. Oh they still run, but the avoid jumping on me. As soon as I get this sent, I'll feed the cats so they will go in to the kennels so I can walk the dogs.

From the kitchen... chicken. I'm going to use the other half of the Ranch Dressing mix in some flour on the chicken. Since it looks more like rain, instead of baking in the oven, I may just use a little oil and fry in a skillet intead. I'll also fry up some cut up potatoes as well. Jerry will love that,

I am hearing...  The T.V. We had a problem with it, yesterday. Said we were only getting a partial signel.. Well I called, Jerry called and neither one of us got a call back.. Um.. it was fine up until 4pm.  When it was installed. the man put our T.V. on top of the reciever. I asked him since all the vents are on top if it was going to over heat or not. He said no. There's plenty of vents on the sides and bottom as well.  Jerry took it out from under the T.V. , put it on our printer (that isn't working again) and it cooled off and is working like it should, again. If/when I get the call back. I'm going to say something about how the man said it was going to be ok, and it wasn't ok.

I am wearing... Grey cut off sweat pant shorts. My Pooh shirt, Thin Socks and red Crocks that are getting very, very thin.

I am reading... emails

Sept 13, 2011, morning.

Good Morning... Well, it's still very early as I write this.  Erin is a very small town. The only Grocery store closes at 8pm.  We barely had time to pick up enough things to get us through this week. meats, bread, eggs, milk and vegetables.  I sure hope that Jerry does not have to go on 7 days a week. We need one day just to do the shopping with since the next closest store is almost 40 minutes away.  You know it's a very small town when the one cafe stays open longer than the local store does.  At least the fresh produce does look fresh for the most part. The cucumbers didn't look so good and we didn't get any of them.  The last one I got went bad on me before we could use it.
Yesterday was so foggy when I took the dogs out the first time. Today it's nice and clear. I don't like taking the dogs out this (4am) early, but they needed "out". I'll have to get them back to their old schedule of going out closer to dawn.   Today's weather is to be dry and hot. Well, 88 is hot to me. I plan on putting the cover on the canopy and then cooking in the table top oven, outside. I'm going to bake some pork chops and a few potatoes for our dinner. I'll fix up a salad as well.
There is a slight chance that Jerry will be working 12 hour days, next week. I told him, I hope he knows by Sunday if they are or not. Cause the plan would be for him to just buy something on his way home and I'll just fix myself dinner. By the time he'd get home around 9pm it would be too late for me to be eating, then going to bed, only to get up at 3:30 again. I sure hope they don't go to working 12 hour days.  10 hours are enough. After 10 hours, people start making mistakes because they are tired.
Yes, we have T.V. again and still not much to watch on it.. (figures, right?). We watched "Antiques Road Show" last night. I don't even know what else was on, cause we went to bed before 9:30.. almost unknown for me to be in bed that early. I'm usually going to bed just after the 10pm news is going off. But I didn't get a nap yesterday and I was just tired.
The cats have been behaving for the most part. Mostly sleeping or at least not getting into too much when they are awake. Of course, after they are first let out at 4am. so they can get a drink of water and a potty break, go back into the kennels almost on their own. I'll let them back out again around 7 am.  after I have scooped out their catbox. Yeah. it's one of those jobs that has to be done. Not pleasent but necessary.
It's going to be another "shorts" day, today.  Our high of 88 will see to that. I think I have some cut off sweats still in my drawer. I'll put on a white tshirt because it's cooler and I can spray it with some water to cool off with, as well, this afternoon.  I do have to wash Jerry some jeans today and plan on doing that this moring before it gets too hot outside. I had hoped to do that yesterday, but by the time the man was finsihed with the sat dish, it was hot. Since there are 6 paris of jeans, I'll use two washers and not over load either.

September 12 2011

Good Afternoon...  I meant to write this morning but the day got away from me quickly. The internet here is very slow. A bit faster than dial-up but not by a whole lot.  AS I was walking the dogs this morning, in the fog. it occured to me just how wonderful it is to be back out in the country again. It was so quiet, I could hear the ducks on the water across the lake. It was just getting foggy when Jerry left at 4 am. (yes, that's EARLY) I took the dogs out to at least pee since they had gotten a bit hyper while he was getting ready for work. They both peed but didn't do "the other".  Once I got my shower out of the way, and my hair brushed, I took them out again (after 9am) and Wow.. I didn't realize just how many spiders are living in the area I take the dogs to poop at. There were bejeweled webs everywhere. How I regreted that I didn't take my camera with me. Those in the trees were just huge and covered in little dew drops. Those along the ground were just like small nets, waiting for a bug to trap. Etiher we have lots and lots of spiders, or we have one very hungry spider out there. I'll try harder to remember my camera next time it's that foggy out and just after the Sun come up and starts to dry the grass.
I had most of the daily stuff done by 10 am, when the Dish man showed up. In less that 40 minutes he had it installed and I was watching tv.  I was watching my soap, when Beth called. I havn't seen it in almost 3 weeks and . .. well daughters are much more important than a soap show is. I'll look up, on line , in a while what all I missed. I really didn't keep up cause it takes so long for the page to load (slow internet,)

While the man was here, the dogs were in Kennels and the cats were in with Rocky. He was a bit surprised that there were 4 cats in with the dog and asked how well they get along. I explained that we got the cats as very young kittens and he's always been good with cats. Even with a "stranger" in the house, they did good. Of course they barked, but not for long and not as loud as they can be.
Jerry has asked for spegettie and meatballs for dinner. Since I no longer have the crockpot. I'll have to cook in a couple of pans. I told him that, tomorrow, we may well end up with sandwiches and chips cause it's going to be in the low 90's according the Weather Channel. I sure hope not, but I can't do anything about it.
Oh.. Jerry did pick up a fire pit and he said he'd set it up tonight.  If it turns out as hot as I think it is, but if it starts to cool off before he gets off work, I could start a fire and we could have hotdogs cooked over the fire.  He said there's no grill with it.  It's not the one we were looking at. Walmart only had two left and both were damanged. He got the next size up, instead.  I told him, this next weekend, we can check at Lowe's and Home Depot for a grill that may fit on top, over the fire. I said we may want some jack chain and suspend it over the fire instead of laying above the fire. of course that depends on the size we get, as well.
There is a camper with a fireplace,  I want to take a picture of. it looks like it has some of the stuff used at the camfires at the CoHT annual meetings. I would love to know where he picked up his hooks and stuff.
Today is a "shorts" day. tomorrow will be as well. I have on a stained t-shirt. as well. I can get it damp with a spray bottle while I'm sitting under the fan and cool off a bit. All the animals are laying around in here, with me. Not close to me, but close enough that they can feel the air conditioner and the fan.
I have been reading emails. I really should read a chapter in a "real" book. I really want to finish Eragon and then start the new Auel book I picked up a week ago.

September 9, 2011

Good Morning... Jerry had yesterday off. An accident at the job site had to re evaluated. No one was hurt but they still had to find out how and why it happened and who was at fault and how to prevent something like that from happening again. Since it's now 10 am and he's not called. I'm going to say at least he and the rest of this company are still on the job. Now, because he was out Monday for Labor Day, Tuesday was a rain day, and Yesterday.. We are in hopes that he will work tomorrow. He hopes he doesnt have to work Sunday and I'm sort of iffy either way. I want him to have time off, but we could use more on next weeks paycheck as well.

He didn't pick up the fire pit I wanted because of all the days off this week.  I'm sure that there are going to be still more meetings and safety issues taken care of in the next few days.  It's down right frightening to think of all the things that can happen on a job this size.  Jerry went in early, as usual, cause he's still on water duty but didn't know if he would have to take care of the water or not. He'll let me know when he gets home tonight.  Only one more week of this, But I think he's still wanting to go in very early so he can get a good parking space close to the gate.0

Ok, so, while he had a day off (again) I decided that it was time for a "Honey Do" list. Seems a few things I've been wanting or needed has been put on a back burner for too long and he had thoughts of just siting around again today... Not going to happen three days this week.  First thing I had him do, was mearsure the sink for a board to go on top and make me  more "coounter" space for when I'm cooking. I had the board from when I made doors for the small book case to keep the cats from scratching up my note books. (And it looks nicer, as well)  He did that. Then I had to ask him to round the corners off for me. You know make it look nicer and fit a bit better.  Got that done, Good we still have a piece of Scrap left over from that, Take the scrape and place it on this candle holder we bought last weekend and give it a good tap, then cut me out a round of wood to go on top, using that hole that's now in the wood for a center point. Well, after turning everything upside down, there was just room enough to cover the top of that candle holder.. Not as large as i would have liked but now I have a wood piece on top to make a good place to put my coffee cup when I have my coffee outside. Or an oil lamp. Speaking of... that was the third project.. Only it was suppose to be My project.  I gathered up the jars. finding a small ring in a drawer. I don't recall putting the ring in that drawer and I don't know where it came from. I think it may have a diamond in it, though. I'll have to see if it will cut glass to find out, I guess. I was searching the drawer for metal lids to all the jars I've been saving to make lamps out of.  I also hunting up some small Nuts. I do have to be carefull when I ask Jerry if he has any Nuts.. expcally if there are others out.  I amended my self and said Nuts and Bolts cause I needed the Nuts.  He said maybe in that orange bucket by the door, if not in that one then in the white bucket in the van, maybe. So I go looking through the Orange bucket and find and Indrustrial plate cover with just the right sized nuts I need. Very small ones.
"What do you want those for?"
"they are just the right size to put wicks in, for oil lamps" "I want to put Oil lamps on these yard hooks I bought the other day."
"How are you going to do that?"

Well.. I got out a lid and tried to put a hole in it.. forgot that my neighbor worked last night, but it was ok, we heard him yelling at his t.v. He was playing a game. So I tried again. and Jerry said "Here, let me do that" and took the lid, philips screwdriver and wire cutter from me. I told him, Not too big a hole. I need it to stay on the small side don't wham it, just tap it. Ok.  So he did and made just the right sized hole I needed.. Good, now I need another hole from the other direction, for an air hole. Ok.. bent the lid, that's ok. unbend it enough it will screw onto the jar. ok.. so I'm trying to push the sharp edges of the second hole back into the jar when he took it back again. and asked me what I was doing. I told him, I don't want to get cut by the sharp edges when I light the wick so I was pushing them back to the other side. "OK". and he then did that for me. and unbent the lid again.  I then took a thin, 10 inch long piece of old tshirt and pushed it up through the hole in the lid and then through the nut. and then pushed the nut down to the top of the lid with a bit of the cloth still sticking up through both.  A oil lamp wick is now done.
Then I picked up the wire and he wanted to know how much did I need.  I asked him for the wire cutters back. I didn't know yet.. I took the wire and unrolled some from the roll then went around my jar twice with a bit extra. Cut that off.. and he said ok, and I said I'm not done yet. and started to put a hook on the end of the wire still on the roll and he asked me why I was doing that. I told him, I'm making a bail for it. don't put the hook on yet.. Ok.. so I then measured off more wire and cut it off, and figured I'm do a bit different than I first though. I wrapped the first piece of wire around the rim of the glass and gave it a twist, Not a tight twist, yet. then I started to put the end of the second wire though the first and Jerry took it from me and did that for me. I told him I not only wanted it to hook but I wanted to twist it a bit so that I'm sure it won't come apart with the weight of the jar and oil in it.  "Ok".  Now, do the same thing at the other side with the other end of the wire. "OK".  Put the oil in the jar. place the wick in the oil and tighten the lid.  Holding a finger over the air hole, give the jar a shake to help the wick get wet with the oil.  Once the wick is good and soaked, light. At first the wick is going to put off black smoke, that's the cotton of the shirt burning as much as anything but soon the smoke won't be so heavy and the light will change to more yellow and you can then tell that it's burning the oil and not the cotton.

One oil lamp out of a jar..
"Ok". I handed him a second jar and said, Your turn. I need two, one for each hook. "OH, OK".. and he only wrapped his wire one time. which is ok. but I like how doubling the wire around the neck of the jar, under the lip looks more. He made his bail longer. which is ok,  I didn't want them looking that much alike, anyway. And it gave him something to work on. And he lit it, and it only burned the cotton.. pulled up more wick, and tried it again.. This strip of tshirt was a bit thicker than the one I used in the other lamp and it wasn't able to wick up enough oil fast enough. Jerry ended up removing the nut and instead of fighting to get it back on, just left the wick, which works but the lid can get hot if you do that. don't hurt any thing. may but off the paint of the lid a bit though. but it doesn't make the lamp work any different.  Once it was working right. we blew out the flames and decided we had better go do laundry.
Before we could do that, I had to remove the bread dough from the breadmaker and form it into rolls and two small loave's on a small cookie sheet, then put in the freezer to stop them from rising. Remember, I said earlier that I had found a ring in a drawer? It just fits my little finger of my left hand.  I didn't want bread dough in it, so I took it off. and... forgot where I put it, after I was done with the dough. I just forgot I even had it on, and had taken it off.
We go to Erin, drive down to the Piggly Wiggle and find out that laundry mat has been closed for a while. Go back the other way. and we "Know" we have seen a laundry mat in the area but can't find it.  We go past the end of the busnesses in that side of town and go "Hummmm."  We turn around and There right before town is a Tennessee Department of Housing".. ok stop here and I'll go in and ask if there is a laundry mat around here... Sure is, we even pasted it going to town. It's tucked up behind a car wash. It cost about about 1/3 rd more than if I had been able to do it here at the campground, but the machines here are still a mess. To be able to do it there, in three larger washers, then just bring it home to fold up was worth it. I then took two of the pans of rolls out of the freezer to thaw and raise for our late night snack.

So, we did get a lot done for his being off work again.

Yesterday as a gray day all day long. A slight breeze but no rain. Today, when I finally got up at 9 am. It's nice and sunny and the first thing I did after getting dressed, scooping the catbox was take the dogs for a walk. We were out for about 20 minutes just walking around. They loved the walking and sniffing about. We "met" a kid on a bike. He's home schooled and was taking in some fresh air between studies. He's was out again a few minutes ago, taking to my neighbor. Kim is nice. She told me about a job that may be hiring in Colorado. and told me the name of the town. I had to look itup and I had to look it up. It's near Rifle.  I hope we can spend more time out this afternoon. I try to get all our walks in, before Tom gets home after 5:30. He lets his dogs out then and they sometimes come to visit with us. The dogs have been nose to nose. It was an ok, meet.
The cats have been spending time in Kitty jail, agian. Two just will not stop jumping on the kitchen counter. We will yell "Off" and they jump off, then go into a kennel, I guess they know that's where they are going to be put and will take care of that part on their own rather than be picked up and put in.
Jerry fixed the chicken tenders for dinner last night, He did really good with them. He seasoned them with cajon Seasoning. He fixed alfredo Noodles as well as a salad. Tonight, I'm making another hamburger helper meal.  Tomorrow will be hot dogs.
I have "Mooseport" on, I think once it's done, I'll ask Jerry if he wants to keep it, and if not, I'll put it in the laundry room so someone else can enjoy it. I'm sure that's what he'll tell me to do.
I wish I had taken Eragon with me to the laudry mat yesterday.  I still need to finish it before I start another book. I use to do a lot of reading, before we got a computer. Now I seem to do most of my reading on the comptuer. I think I need to learn to turn off the computer for a couple of hours each afternoon. I've been playing "Bookworm". It's a spelling game. There are times that I'm sure I've spelled a word right but it won't accept it, then I will just randomly click on letters and it will tell me it's a word. Not sure what up with that.
I need to check the mail here in a bit. It's a nice little walk to the box.  The grass is being mowed and I asked if there was a push mower. It's broken. Ok.  got a weed eater? yeah, she'll bring it to me in a bit and I can do around our area. With the canopy up, it's a bit of a tight squeese with the legs and oil lamps in the way.

September 7, 2011

Good Morning...  Ah.. I spoke to Tom and he said the cheesecake filling that he gave me, was ready to eat and didn't need to be bakes. He did like my idea of making a Graham Cracker crust for it and he said he may try that next time he makes it. I  had a small bowl of the Cheese cake filling for my lunch yesterday. He does good. I hope to make cookies soon and I'll return his container with some cookies in it.   Every time he lets his dogs out, them come visit. Yesterday, we had the door open and his dogs (3 of them) came running around the corner and the Cats went crazy. they all headed to the bathroom, and the dogs headed back to Tom, quick. Of couirse, for the next 1/2 hour, the cats were dashing to the door to look out and see if those dogs were back or not. Smokey would stand up on his back feet and peer around the corner of the door, to look out. He looked a lot like a MeerCat trying to see if they were out there, or not.  Our dogs "Met" the owner's larger dog, again. He came running to say "Hi" and I had a time of it holding my dogs but they did have a good meet. No growling or jumping or trying to hump each other. And once they touched nose to nose, he went on his way and I was finally able to convience our dogs that they were outside for a reason.
Jerry got rained out, yesterday.. and we can sure tell ther's a few miles between where he works and where he lives. We had a litte drizzle, maybe. and he said it was pouring when he got to work.  The supervisor's decided to send the fellows home but they all stayed. I'm thinking they were going to have a meeting anyway. Jerry and I decided to go check out a Furnature mart that is close by. The first time we got there, it wasn't open yet. A truck was waiting for the gate to open. So, we went to Erin, Then decided to follow a road and we ended up in Dover, and found a short cut from Dover back to the campground. We went back to the Furnture place and found out that the loveseat we like, is just over $1,000.  For Brand new, just out of the box, that's not bad. We just don't have that, right now. We were just price shopping anyway and now we know what High End is going to cost us. And this place really isn't that High End either.  We really had no idea what the price was going to be and she was understanding that we were just looking. I got her card and if we do come up with the money for a good replacement for this thing we sit on, we may go back. I am not wanting to have something from Goodwill or Salvation Army unless we just have to.
We started out, going to go to Walmart for a fire pit,, then changed our minds and Jerry can pick up one either this evening or on Friday. Would love to have it "now". but I can wait if we need to. and I'll leave that up to him to decide if he wants to pick one up after work or just wait until he has to go to walmart... We paid the Van off. Another trip to Tuscaloosa is in order, now.  They don't send the titles out in the mail. Too many have gotten lost, so we will just have to go pick it up.  That's ok, cause I want to pick up everything in storage and put in a storage unit closer to where we live, soon. I had hoped we would do that over the labor day weekend. But we didn't go anywhere. As I said we started off headed toward Clarkesville, and ended up back in Erin. We took a side road to see where it would lead.  We stopped in at the Piggly Wiggly and bought some lunch meat, tomoatoes and dish soap.  I have yet to find the kind I use, at Food Lion. we want to also check out the Hilltop grocery this week before we decide where we want to do all our shopping at each week. The produce at Food Lion just isn't that good, for the price we are having to pay for it.  While we were in Erin, We stopped at Dollar General and I picked up dog food and two short Shephard's hooks that I wanted. I want 2 more, and they will just have to wait until next time I get there.
Today's high is suppose to be in the low 60's. Wonderful, perfect weather for walking and I plan on doing a lot of that today. I plan on taking my camera with me when we walk today.  We have a slight chance of drizzle, but I doubt we will get much. I'll put the cover on the frame this morning so we can sit out this evening.
I took the dogs for their regular walk at 5 pm and when we got back, Jerry was making our dinner. We had cube steak, Mashed potatoes and salad. He ate a packet of Graham Crackers, as well.   Today, I'll end up making Salad, and fixing hamburger helper. I might open a can of peas to add to the helper. but then again. maybe not. I am thinking of making some fresh rolls, as well. Here in a bit, I'm going to open all the windows and vents and the door so this place can air out. I'll have to wear pants again today, but that's ok cause I want to walk along that road again but have to wait until after the sun is full up.  I wanted to read while doing laundry yesterday and we never got over to the laundry room. That's what I have to work on, today.  We don't know, but expect that Jerry will have to work this Saturday to make up not only Labor Day, but the rain out of yesterday as well. I'll have to see if Jerry left the wire we bought over the weekend here, so I can set up a couple of oil lamps out on my hooks we just got. I think it's still in the van so will have to wait until he gets home before i can work on that.

September 6

What a difference a couple of days can make.  yesterday was so comfortable. I ended up changing from short into sweatpants.  Jerry got cool once the sun went down and had to put on a long sleeved shirt. The dogs wanted more walks yesterday because it was so nice out. And the sunset... Wow.  The Blue was so intense just after the sun was below the horizon.  And the other colors were just as sharp and clean.  Jerry took a picture but not of the blue but the oranges that came after the blue, the underside of the clouds. I'll have to see if I can get a copy off of him.
I talked to Momma D about us getting a small fire pit and buring some of the brush she's got piled over by some campers in storage. She said yeah, go ahead. I just wanted to be sure it was going to be ok cause some places get a bit upset if you just up and do something like that. We will get the fire pit next Friday,  I think. Jerry will pick it up when he cashes his paycheck.  We have the canopy frame up and we have it short enough I can put the cover on it. As I told Jerry, we can always go buy a large painters tarp if we loose this cover. He's not sure but I know I could get it to work, It may not look like the nice new ones but it would work.
The cats are really pushing it this weekend. They want "OUT" and we won't let them out.  Smokey is really pushing to go out and so today, if I'm going to have the door open, I may have to keep the cats in the kennel cause I'm not going to fight them around the door.
Tom, behind us, Brought me some cheesecake mix and I think I'm suppose to bake it. I'll make up a small amout of Graham cracker crust and bake a bit and if it does like I think, I'll just make two or three smaller cakes than one large one. Jerry won't eat it any way, and I can have only a little bit. I plan on returning his container with some cookies in it cause Jerry is getting hungry for home made cookies.
Today the weather is suppose to be cool and maybe damp. Not sure if we are suppose to just be humid or have rain. I do plan on taking the dogs out more, now that it's cooler. All week is going to be below normal for this time of year. I'll take it. It sure feels more like mid October than the first full week of September.  Once the sun comes up, I need to pick up out on our "yard". I gave the dogs a couple of cola bottles to play with. Rocky loves to take the tops off of them. The pepsi bottle was a challange to him. We don't usually get Pepsi but Jerry picked up one by accident and I'm guessing he twisted the lid back on extra tight before he tossing it into the back of the van. Rocky really had to work to get that lid off.  Macon wanted to play with Rocky and had to wait for him to get that lid off.  Macon much prefers to play keep away from the people that fetch. He also likes to just rough house with Rocky. You wouldn't know he's over 2 years old from the way he plays.
The cats loved that we wanted to sit outside. We couild hear them running from one end of the camper to the other and back again. Funny... if we open the door they all lay down like they were there the whole time and not doing all that running and jumping. it gets very quiet when we open the door. Of course, if the door is open, they all want to sit and look out, or Smokey will try to climb the door, trying to find a way to get out. Oh, I need to get out my tape and use it on the door. I cut my hand on it, this morning. My dress got caught on a wire of the screen and I ended up with a small cut when I tried to get it loose. Over night the Attenia fell down and turned and I was out, trying to get it back up and turned back around. I just wanted to catch up with the news and weather.
I took a cube steak out of the freezer for our dinner, tonight. I'll bake some potatoes for dinner as well and do a couple of extra's to cook for Jerry's breakfast in the morning. it's easier to fix his breakfast if the potatoes have already been cooked and just need cut up and tossing in the skillet to warm up and get browned. I will fix that cheesecake mix, but I'll also have to make something for Jerry to eat for dessert. Not sure what that is going to be, just yet. He did say he likes Sugar cookies and I can do that. I fixed Mac and Cheese, Salad and hot dogs last night.  I only ate one of the hot dogs, they are too salty but that's how Jerry likes them. At least they are all beef dogs. Those don't ususally give me heartburn. Jerry could live off of hot dogs and hambuger if I'd let him. Not going to happen.  I'll tell you, I'm very dissapointed in the produce department at Food Lion here.  The price is a bit more which would be ok, if the quality was up there as well. The cucumbers are all brused and go bad to fast. 89 cents is a bit much for one green pepper but at least they don't go bad once cut. I'm paying at least 10 cents more per pound for bananas. I hate that but I really do need  to eat banana's each day. I can sure tell quicky when I havn't have one in a day or two.
I can't wait until I can open the windows this morning so I can hear the morning bird calls.  We do have some hunters that are trying for ducks  over the water, but I don't think they are having much luck.  I did see some ducks ready to come land on the water while I was walking the dogs, It was just after the sun had gone down and If I recall that's too late for someone to be shooting at them.  I have the news on, right now. A lot of talk about how  Tropical Storm Lee is still causing havic on the south. I just wish Heather would call and let me know that all is well with her and her family.  There's a story about how a bear distroyed a Preas car. It got in, got stuck, ended up knocked it out of park and into netrul and rollding down a hill. it finally was able to get out of the car but it sure did tear it up trying to get out. Sure glade that's not my car.
Today will be a pants day, for sure. I need to do laundry today anyway. I think I have one pair of clean shorts left in my drawer. Jerry will need some things as well so laundry is on my agenda today. I'll do that in a bit, after walking the dogs, once the sun comes up.  I do know that drying jeans is going to be problematic around here. It's either use 2 hours and $2.00 in quarters, or use $1.00 and then hang them in the camper to finish drying. That's what I did last week. They got dry, but they were in my way for a while, as well.
I don't know if I wrote about my yard sale finds or not before.  I found two candle stands for $1 each. nabbed them up fast. The next place had a couple but he wanted $5 each and that was just too much considering they were not in any better shape than the ones I just picked up and if I can find a couple more, all the better. I found a few very nice sets of baby girl clothes and I grabbed them up, for Beth. I doubt that any have been worn even they are so nice. No stains at all on them. If Jerry does not work next Satureday, I'll send them to her, in the mail. I got a couple of cigar boxes I plan on covering with "something". I can always use them for earrings or crafts supplies.  I was totally surprised to find "The Land Of Painted Caves" by jean Auel. I didn't know she had this one out. I grabbed it up as well for $5.  Once I finish Eragon, I'll start it. If I start it now, I'll never finish Eragon. I'll do most of my reading while I wait for the laundry to get done.

Labor Day notes

We picked up an "on clearance" canopy.  To anchor it down (this time) we bought some metal stakes to drive in the ground. Then we also bought some ty wire to connect the frame to the stakes. A whole roll of wire for a few yards of the stuff..

We set up the Canopy and had breakfast under it, this morning. We took it down a bit ago. The wind was getting a bit stronger and we didn't want to loose yet another canopy to the wind. Of course, now that we've taken the cover off and come inside, the wind has calmed back down but it does look like more rain is headed our way. We really need the rain and it's not like we had anything planned to do today.   I have been "hungry" for waffles for a few weeks but ever time I thought about starting them, Jerry would start making breakfast and there just wasn't room for the waffle maker along with what he was making.. this morning, I mixed up the batter, then started putting things by the door for him to take out. It was nice to sit outside and make waffles for each other. I know we will do it again some time soon.

Jerry was fussing a bit about having  to buy a whole roll for some a small amount of use.. then I remembered a couple of outdoor projects that I will need wire with. They didn't say to use this type of wire, but it will work.

I do need to get to a Dollar General or Family Dollar and pick up their cheap yard hooks to hand my lights from.  But as I go along I keep finding things to do a nice project, one piece at a time.

I found candle stands at a yard sale for $1. eacch. and nabbed them. Next yard sale had two more, smaller ones for $5 each and I passed them by. He didn't seem to want to deal on anything.

I found two cigar boxes, great for a craft stash or maybe Modge Podge something onto them. A book I didn't know Auel had out yet. ($5.00) Some baby clothes for Beth's baby, Some have never been worn even. A cast iron tea kettle, He was asking $20 and I thought it a bit much so offered $15 and he said Sold so fast a head could have spun.  He wanted it out of there. It had belonged to his wife's dad and he passed back in 1999. I'm guessing the reminders of him were getting to them from the way they were talking.

We were going to get a fire pit, found one at Walmart for $29... But we are a bit short on cash right now. Jerry can pick one up when he gets his check cashed next Friday. I'll have to remind Jerry to look where they sell the grills and see if there is a huge grill to buy separate for to cook with.

We finally got out our tripod for over a fire, and set it up to see how high it can go. I do think high enough to be able to cook over a small fire pit. That will be fun and let me work on some of my outdoor fire skills some more. We will need another grill for that, smaller with three chains so it will hang ballanced over a fire.

I will be looking in the canned good. for jars with metal lids to make a few lamps with. I picked up a small bottle of oil for tiki lights. I did a bit of an experment to see just how flamable it is.  Like with the baby oil, I poured out a very small amount into a small metal lid and put a flame directly on it.. it didn't catch fire, It needs a wick to burn.. that is wonderful to know.

Sept 2, 2011

Good Morning... Whew, It's HOT . Even this morning when we got up, it is still hot. The tempature was 75F. The high today is going to be very close to 100 again today. Tomorrow don't look much better. I have to turn off the hot water tank around 10 am to keep from tripping a breaker that cuts off the power to the whole camper. It was so hot yesterday that We ate out last night. It's bad when we drive for almost an hour, to eat at a Sonic's. Then takes about 45 minutes to get back to the camper. Jerry is going to pick up something on his way home tonight. It's just too hot to cook in the camper and add more heat to an already struggleing air conditioner. Even if we had the window unit in, it would just blow that breaker. The box is in the full sun in the aternoon and it just over heats and that breaker just can't stand the heat.
I did two loads of laundry yesterday. The jean almost got dry.. almost. I put them on hangers and put them over my bed. Jerry put them back in a tub for me last night before going to bed. I have to fold up all the laudry I've done, before it gets too hot to move. Here it is, not yet 5:30, and I've cleaned both kennels where the cats made a mess, I then finished up the cleaning of the bathroom. And scooped the catbox. I already know that I'll most likely take a long afternoon nap, and will try to sleep while it's just too hot to move. I'm just taking a short break and letting my back stop hurting a bit. I tried giving the cats a small can of water in each kennel since I fed them so late last night. All they did was tip them over and made a larger mess. Guess I'll just have to feed earlier instead.
Once the sun comes up enough I can see to walk, I'll take the dogs out early. As much as I hate it, I'll have to take them out before 5:30 pm when our behind us neighbor gets home and let's his 3 out. They are ok, but he has one that he does not put on a lead. Although it acted aggressive toward my dogs, once they snapped back at it, it quickly changed attitude. He's only got three legs he's still a rather large dog and I don't want them to really get into a "king of the hill" type of fight. I'm just not sure who would come out on top. I never walk my dogs with them loose. Not even when we were at Beth's for so long, did my dogs have outside freedom. I'm just not sure how they would behave. Macon gets rather side tracked at times, and then forgets every thing including that he's suppose to come to his name.
The cats want to sit in the back and watch the birds in the trees that are on the north side of the camper. Too bad those trees are not full enough to cover that Electrical box. They are tall, thin pines. I do need to take a small plastic bag with me to collect Pine cones to make fire starter with.
I have mis-placed my camera. I want to try to find it before I take the dogs out this morning. would be nice to take a few pictures of the dogs playing in the "yard" and while we are walking. My Cell phone takes ok pictures but I much prefer my camera.
I don't know why Momma D has any rules, she don't follow them either and I know many people have the attitude that if the owner isn't going to follow her own rules why should any one else. Day before yesterday, Some of the "younger" people had music (if you can call it that) rather loud. I had to step outside to hear Beth on the cell phone and instead of trying to hear through the static, I had to try to hear her over Grunge boy bands. I don't care what other's want to hear, but why do I have to hear it? Really, there isn't any reason for it to be that loud.. Why do people play music so loud they have to shout to talk above it? What's up with that anyway? if you want the music to mask what your talking about. move closer together to talk. At least most of it was over with by the time Jerry got home. I've seen only two other dogs on a lead here. Now, I admit that the puppy is young, but now is the time to train it to walk with a lead. I would guess it's only 6 to 9 weeks old. Follows his "people" well enough, but they are not paying enough attention to call it when it starts to stray away from them. Oh well. As long as I'm taking care of "MY" dogs, and the other's leave me and mine alone, .... but I do wander what to do, if one of those loose dogs come and start a fight with mine. First thing I'll do is drop the lead and step back. I don't want bit. But, I sure would hate to have to sue someone because they choose to not control their dog on a lead while they are outside their camper.
I may make some pudding to go with what ever Jerry picks up on his way home from work tonight.
