Clint Eastwood

Today is Clint Eastwood's birthday.  He was born in 1930. That would make him a bit more than three years older than my Mom. ( I never knew)  Growing up, My friend Luann Shepherd and I would beg our parents to let us watch his movies.  The first movie I asked Mom to take me two was "The Beguiled"  I didn't know what it was about.. Mom loved it. Then "Courger's Bluff" came on.  I thought for sure Mom would tell me no more Eastwood Movies until I was older. But she quickly reaized it wasn't the violence that drew me to the movies, it was the Actor.

I loved him in "Paint Your Wagon".  And to this day, I sing the songs from that movie.

Howdy....

Howdy.... I hope you have a pleasant three day vacation this past weekend. Jerry had to work 8 hour Saturday but once he got off work, We did some Geo-Caching. We found 3 out of 4 and we found the 4 Th on Sunday. but Sadly that was the only one we found on Sunday and we looked for 3 others. We are thinking that, maybe, those in South Boston are may have been Muggled (stolen by someone)
Today, I'll be folding the clothes we washed yesterday, cleaning the camper and taking care of the dogs.(of course) I hope to let them play for a long while this morning once the sun comes up (I'll have my coffee ready to drink, by then)
Memorial Day is always the UN-Official beginning of Summer, and outside it is going to feel like Summer with our highs this week in the upper 80's and even a couple of 90's. There's only a small chance of rain tomorrow evening in the forecast so far, but of course, that could change.
We have two families of wild Geese, in the area. One family had 5 goslings but now has 4 and the other family has two. There is a noticeable difference in their sizes. There were up here, close to the camper yesterday morning as we were leaving, searching for scraps, I think.
It was a busy weekend for the campground. The pool is open but we have yet to go up to it. It's still a bit too cool to be in the water for me. Now next weekend may be a different story. One of our weekend end neighbors had a pet pig with them. That was different, to say the least. I didn't go over and say "Hi" though. We had a family in tents up in the woods at one of the sites up in our section, as well. (No idea what they did for "bathroom" since there's no facilities up here. They did have water and power.
We lit a fire in our fire ring and I roasted the last of the marshmallows. I shared the marshmallows with the dogs (their's didn't get roasted). they got to stay outside (On their leads, tied to the camper) for almost two hours and I think they enjoyed every minute of that time. I was able to let them play outside for about 40 minutes last night just as it was getting dark. now that we are mostly in reruns on the T. V. I expect the dogs will be enjoying more evening time outside, At least until the bugs find us.
I fed the cats early this morning when I first say the tree trimmers getting close to our section. Strips was the only one of the cats to come find me while they were doing the work
From the kitchen...
I'm considering making a very large Chef Salad for dinner tonight and what's left will be used for our daily salads for the rest of this week. I'll cut up the vegetables once I get the dishes out of the way, and will cut up some meat to add to the salad this afternoon. I picked up Radishes and Celery to add to the salad. The radishes I'll add when I make the salad but the celery will be put in a separate container so Jerry can add how ever much he wants if he wants any at a all (he's not much for celery) I'll have mushrooms on the side and the tomatoes will also be in a separate container so that the salad isn't have some fresh baby spinach that I'll add to my salad but I doubt Jerry will want any for his.
I am hearing... I have the early morning news on right now. I plan on turning off the T. V. once the news is over with this morning and turning on a Radio. That is so not like me as I have always had the T. V. on all day long. I may just mute the T. V.
I am wearing... right now, a Moo-Moo but I'll be wearing shorts today
I am reading... "Dragon's Time" by Todd McCaffery. Or, I should say I'm trying to read it. My Kindle keeps messing up every time I try to read more than a page or two.
I am creating...
One of my favorite things... Is sitting outside, with a cup of coffee, watching the dogs play with each other and having a good time in the morning.
A few plans for today... Cleaning the front half of the camper. Keeping cool. Get out some sewing to work on. (got to kick myself in the backside and get it started)
A few plans for the rest of the week...

Crafts and More.

Crafts, and more

Remember my rainbow shoes?  I sprayed them with water-proofing today. The red around the Vamp ran a little from the spray. I was afraid that would happen, but it's not too bad. You have tolook close to notice it.

And I made more melted bead suncatchers.  I wanted a haging hole without having to drill a hole.  I waited the 45 minutes, and took out 4 black pony beads (I wanted to see the holes well) The beads started to melt in as soon as I dropped them onto the melted plastic. I had to remove one as it closed up the hole almost as soon as it touched the plastic.  but I got a flash in inspiration.  Why not place a bead, on it's side, into the plastic as it's starting to cool.  Ah.. this is what I got.

And, this week, I was still in a rainbow mood. and I made this cake. I added a bit of cinnamon to the batter, to give it some Oomph.

Yesterday's Note

Yesterday, I slept after Jerry left for work. I stayed up about 45 minutes then went back to bed and didn't get up until after 9 am. And that's because the dogs wanted to go outside again. Not a whole lot going on around here right now. Jerry did say he would be surprised if he's still on this job after next weekend as this one is almost done. Now to find the next one. We still haven't heard from the one that is just across the North Carolina state line. I'm sure he'll go check on it if he's laid off this week.
Barney is a smart dog. He first found the water puddle that is outside our camper. Then he decided to try to bury his ball in it, twice. I yelled at him to leave it alone and he took his ball out of it,but then he found out that it didn't taste all that great. He would pick it up, drop it then try to get the taste out of his mouth. When it was time to come inside, I told him he had to bring in the ball and he did. Later, When I walked to the back of the camper, I checked the water dish and found out that Barney had washed his ball in it. The water was very dirty. He was having a blast tossing the ball up then chasing it down to toss it up in the air again.
The Cats have enjoyed coming in one window and going out another all day long today. I have closed all but one of the windows and it will be closed here in a bit as it's starting to get a bit cool in here. .
Dinner was Grilled Pork Chops, Salad, Pork and Be and I made a Rainbow Cake. I took a white cake mix and made it up,I added a teaspoon of Cinnamon to it, then I used food color to color up about 2/3 of a cup of batter, pour that into my cake pan, then colored up another 2/3 cup of batter and did Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. It took a bit longer to bake but it turned out nice. I frosted it with sugar free frosting and sprinkled just a bit of Green sugar to mask that some of the crumbs pulled to the top of the cake when I frosted it.
I am hearing... Right now, Jeopardy show. I hope to catch "Dancing with the Stars" this evening. It's almost over with. We saw the final show of Survivor. I wanted Cochran to win and he did.
I am wearing... /black Sweat Pants and a black top.
I am reading... Numbers 19 in the Bible this morning, as well as "100 easy cooking Tips", by Jamila Khan and lots of emails.
One of my favorite things... is getting pictures from my daughter of them and the Grand Kids.
A few plans for today... Clean up the kitchen from Dinner,

Rainbow Shoes

Why should the kids have all the fun?  I love rainbows.  I bought this pair of cheap shoes just so I could add some color to them.
First I drew the black lines so I could make them look the same. maybe next time I'll do two different designs on a pair of shoes.
and I started with red,

Of course after Red is Orange

And after orange is Yellow

After Yellow is Green

After Green is Blue

And of course after Blue is Purple

Both, all done and ready for me to put the laces back in and let them sit a couple of days. I want them to be very dry before I wear them the first time. I'll spray them with some water proofing made to spray on tents before I wear them.

making suncatchers

A while ago I posted in my crafts newsletter about making suncatchers by melting pony beads.. and how I wanted to try it. I finally got around to doing that this past weekend. (after a reminder that I had said I wanted to try it) and Well my results are intresting.
I put my table top oven outside because, well, let's face it, melting plastic stinks.

I started off with just some random colors.  But I changed my mind and just picked out a few colors to work with. I went with yellow, blut purple orange clear and red or pink. I had bought some black beads as well, to see why they said only use the clear ones.. Well they are sun catchers so you want to sun to shine through, I wanted to be able to do outlines and black beads will do just that.

Here they are just going into my oven

All melted

and all done and cooled again

I'm going to save these for Halloween  and hang them in my front window.

Well Phoo.

I have noticed, over the years that when a page we have printed out on a printer gets a bit wet, it runs. some run more than other but they all seem to run when wet and become un-readable. I thought that, maybe, I could get the ink to "Run" onto a shirt so I could decorage up the shirt with paints, then wash out the ink and be left with just what I painted on it.. well, it didn't work. But I knew it would be "Iffy" at best to get it to work like I wanted it to and I thought if it would run I could adjust it to suit my needs. but, at least with this printer, the ink didn't run at all

print out images.. I didn't turn any of them because it's just the image and no words on it.

Cut them out so I can spread them out on the shirt

put cutting mat inside the shirt

paper towel under shirt

One under, one over...On the one under,I put one of the prints under the shirt then I poured a bit of Rubbing Alcohol
over the top of it.. for the one over, I put some  Alcohol  on the shirt, then placed a print on top of that, then allowed to dry.

Next was to try the same thing, only with water

second test... go over a design with a Sharpie then lay on Alcohol wet material smeary and not what I wanted. I used a lighting bolt for this and not the fist and lighting.
See the fist and bolts at the top, I tried just damping it to see if the ink would run and it didn't... and I just printed them out a few minutes before I tried this.
