09 05 23

As I sat outside, just after dark, I was anused by the sights and sounds of the evening.

The two dogs needed out for a few minutes.anf one of us will usually sit with them, to keep an eye on them and keep them out of trouble.
The first thing I noticed was a few lighting bugs, on the pirch. Soon they will no longer be seen but watching their aerial dancing amoung the stems and flowers of the flowers at the edge of the pirch, placed a smile on my face. Knowing that, soon they will not be seen again until next Spring.  God flowers were cl8sing up, for the night and will bloom again in the morning.
As the dogs were searching for scents along the edge of the porch, the large leaves of the "Elephant Eats" danced and swayed to the slight breeze brought on by the already set sun. Hidden behind Fredonia mountain to our west. The sky only a bit lighter in color than the ridge that hid the Sun. The few, high clouds had already lost any sunset colors they may have had and were just a darker shade of gray in the darkening g sky.
I could hear a few noises of the night. Most of the birds have settled down for the night. A few calling to each other much like a family calling out to each other, "Good night, see you in the morning".  A dove is close by, a loon is somewhere close by. A cricket or two not far away, maybe even under the pirch, chirping away. A Cicada "singing" as the light fades into darkness.  Rhe dogs across the street playing, barking when they hear our own dogs play in the yard before I bring them back into the house. The large dog at the end of the block adding his bark into the mix.
Our cat wonders into sight, ready to come back into the house and yet stops to tease the dogs, sitting just beyond their reach and looks over his shoulder in the direction he just came from. I can just see another cat, sitting in the weeds at the edge of the other side of the street as if asking him, are you going to come back and play some more"?
Our cat rushes in and heads to the back, where his food dish is, eats a few bites and then demands to be let back out once wr are all back inside.
A frod of road can be heard and is answered by another. Thrumming in a conversation only they understand. I'm guessing g they have found a water source that attracts bugs and are looking for more relatives to join them.
In the distance I hear a door bang shut as the voices of children who have been playing outside are called into their homes. Done playing for the night. I see a few light turn on or off. As people are going in and getting ready to sleep, for mornings'light is only a few hours away and there are still things that need to be done before going to bed for the night
