I love my life. I keep busy with taking care of my Hubby and our pets. I am sure that Life is more than a clean kitchen and empty sink. If you were to visit me, you may find some craft or another 1/2 done on the table. We no longer travel since Hubby has retired, but we still enjoy seeing new places and faces.

pinto beans. Chunky Potato Soup, Fiesta Pasta Soup
As I said this is great weather to be outside, also great weather for soups, stews or a pot of beans.
I'm making beans and cornbread for our dinner tonight. but I have posted a couple of recipes to my groups that, if we were a larger family I would be making as well..
***
Pinto Beans
1 1/2 cups dry Pinto beans
water to cover well
1/2 tsp baking soda
seasoning of choice
Hamburger or other meat to add
Pick through Pinto beans removing bean sized pebbles and beans that don't look good.
Wash well under running water. place in crockpot and add enough water to cover and then some. Beans will swell while cooking. put on lid Turn on Crockpot. about 4 hours later, stir in the baking soda. it helps to reduce the "toot" factor in beans. two hours later, Brown hamburger or cut up some ham ( what every meat your adding to your beans) Season hamburger as it's browning with your choice. Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Rosemary, Orengano, Thyme, Sage, or any blends you enjoy. add to the beans, and let cook at least one more hour. Re season just before serving. I like to bake some cornbread to go with our beans.

CChile and cornbread, Chicken Brunswick Stew, Chicken and Corn Chowder
Jerry went back for seconds. At first he wasn't so sure he would like it as the cornbread closest to the chili looked a bit raw, but it was all cooked. I'm still going through a Church Cookbook and posting to different recipe groups I'm in. I dont' have any reason to make this large a pot of stew or soup any more but they both sure do sound good.

This and That, Sunday update
Hello, It's a rainy, drizzly day here in Alabama and finally we are out of the 90's. Oh yea!!!!
It's napping weather. I tried laying down for a bit, but kept thinking of things I'm needing to do this week. Jerry laid down on the couch.. don't know how he fit. I got up and now He's gone to his bed.
There is a tiny bit of change in the trees on the hill behind the camper. I am seeing a bit more Yellow and brown that isn't just dead leaves. The Golden Rod has really turned the last couple of days as well. Of course I think part of the reason I notice this is that today is darker than usual.
Jerry is finally off of working nights and back on Days. For how much longer, we don't know. Just taking it one day at a time, right now.
We did go yard saling yesterday, but I didn't find anything. Jerry found a book he wanted to read, and a few computer games as well.
Jerry stopped and talked to the man working on the cable system and the wifi here in the RV park. .. Seems that when the router was stolen, some time back, instead of unscrewing the cables.. they ripped the ends out... So they are hunting for new cable lines or ends for the existing cable in order to fix it. What a bummer. Everyone is being told it's fixed when it's not.
The Tradesman Hot Sheet was in the mailbox Saturday.. first, I'm surprised no one stole it, And second, that was fast. He ordered it Tuesday. We both figured it would take well over a week to get here. Surprise.
